That is a great book, I really enjoyed it and the era in which it is set.

I'm in the middle of the third installment of the "Lost Era" series, "Star Trek, Terok Nor: Dawn of the Eagles". I read the previous two ("Day of the Vipers" and "Night of the Wolves"). The second and third are by S.D Perry and Britta Dennison, I forget who the first one is by, James something or other. So far, the series is really kick butt. All the books are a little slow to start (specifically the first one I was continuously expecting Kira to pop out and whoop some Cardies, but she doesn't come in till middle of the second book.)  but when they get going, they're really good. A bit hard to follow because there's usually 4+ narrators, but otherwise really awesome. You get to learn a lot of the back-stories of characters from DS9(Like Kira, Odo, Dr.Mora, Winn, Dukat...I'm waiting for Garak...Along with other really minor characters.) and what happened during the occupation. Anybody else read these(Don't spoil the third one for me!!)?

I really recommend that anybody who wants to read a good Sci-Fi series pick these up, especially if you're a DS9 fan like myself!!

Watchmen is a great story. I'm a big Alan Moore fan from way back. I'd recommend V for Vendetta and the graphic novels of DC's Swamp Thing from the 1980s. Great stuff.

Would I be an ubergeek to say I'm reading John C Maxwell's 21 Indispensible Qualities of a Leader?  I'd like to think this is how Picard, Janeway, and Archer made captain.

I'm reading George R.R. Martin's "A Game of Thrones" for the first time. Turns out everyone is right--this is a really, really good book.

I made it half way through it.. just couldn't get into it.. not my kind of fantasy.

I reading Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens' Memory Prime.

Currently reading Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson.  Anyone here ever read this book?  It is dense and 1000 pages long. I am only on page 100 and I want to know if it is worth my effort to keep going.

"Fate of the Jedi- Omen" Good series so far, this is book two.

Ktrek

Just about finished with the latest TNG novel "Losing The Peace". Not a bad book but more of a character story. So, if you like action stories this one may not be for you but I liked it a lot. It's a continuation of the post Destiny trilogy universe and how the Federation is coping with all the destruction and rebuilding.

Just finished The Strain by Guillermo del Toro.

It's a pretty good read, but a little too much on the side character chapters. I can totally see they are trying to split the novel up in three parts to make it a trilogy.

What really liked is the way how Del Toro sees vampirism as an epidemiologic threat instead of something romantic and occult.

Pretty cool read, but nothing to die for.

This sounds pretty cool.  Your post led me to dig a little; found this trailer for the book.  (WARNING: Some Language; NSFW)

I've been on a bit of a reading spree the last couple of weeks... Just finished the latest installment in the new Star Wars series Fate Of The Jedi- Omen.  A pretty fun read, with some foreshadowing of events that unfold in the Star Wars: Legacy comic (which is set 137 years after A New Hope).  Also read E.E. Knight's Winter Duty & Star Trek: The Art of the Impossible, which details the Betreka Nebula Incident mentioned on TNG & DS9.  Highly recommended for Klingon fans, this book also takes a look at the lives of Worf's grandfather (Colonel Worf from Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country), Worf's father Mogh, and the details around the incident that left Worf an orphan.

Just about to finish reading Spock's World. Learned a lot about  Cthia (the 'religion' of Vulcan). Lots of great little stories about the evolution of the Vulcans' abilities...though all of them are depressing. :D  I'm not sure if I'm going to continue on with the next book in the Sand and Stars anthology, which is "Sarek", or if I'm going to read Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire. A.C. Crispin wrote "Sarek", she's one of my favorite authors...so I might go ahead and read that.

I'm also listening to the Wheel Of Time Series. I finished "The Dragon Reborn" and have begun "Shadow Rising". These novels are great! I'm listening to them while at work and working out...and I'm eating them up. I highly recommended for anyone who likes stories that are akin to Lord Of The Rings.
