Hi all.

I am in the process of organizing and simplifying the massive amount of stuff I have managed to accumulate in 20+ years of marriage.

I came across some record albums that I have. They have some sentimental value to me, but not so much that I'm desperate to keep them.

I don't know if it's proper etiquette to offer them for sale here, so I'll just leave it at that and one of the moderators can take this down and tell me never to do that again or whatever. If you're interested, contact me outside the forums.

But since these are collectibles, I'll share them with you.

The first is the original soundtrack from Star Wars. The cover describes it as "Original Soundtrack composed and conducted by John Williams Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra".  20th century records, ©1977.

(I apologize for the quality of these pictures, my camera is acting like Data when he first inserted his emotion chip.)

I saved up my lawn mowing money and bought this for myself when I was 10, before I had even seen the movie. The cardboard cover is a little worn, but it is in one piece. There's no scotch tape on it or anything. The records inside have some fingerprints on them, but are otherwise in perfect shape. They are used, however. I must have listened to them a hundred times.

The next one I should probably just throw out. It's the infamous "Christmas in the Stars" album featuring our favorite 'droids, R2-D2 and C3PO. The record itself is broken, but I do have a CD that I dubbed from it before it got broken. I kept it because the art work on it is so cheesy and campy - showing R2 and 3PO and some other droids doing the jobs of the elves in Santa's workshop.

The third one is "The Adventures of Luke Skywalker - The Empire Strikes Back". Someone once told me that is the radio version of the movie, but from Rico's podcast on the radio versions a while back, I don't think so. I haven't listened to it in more than 25 years, so my memory is a little hazy on it. I think it's more of a story-book version, but it does feature dialog and music from the movie. It tells the whole story on 2 sides, less than an hour's worth of audio, so it's heavily edited compared to the movie. But it is in great condition. The cardboard sleeve is a little worn, but not bad. The artwork on the front is very nice, kind of a cross between a comic book drawing and in impressionist painting.

The 4th is really neat. Like the last one, it's a story-book version of the first movie (Star Wars - long before it was referred to as 'Episode 4'), but this one is a "picture disk". If you don't know what that is, it's an LP, but instead of being black, it's clear, and inside is a photo. In this case, side a shows R2 and 3PO with the title "The Story of Star Wars", the back is Darth Vader with his light saber drawn. Again, the sleeve is worn, but it's kind of plain anyway. It has a big circle cut out of the front to show the art on the disk. The disk itself is in great shape, I think I might have only played it once.

The last one isn't really sci-fi, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway. It's "Pac Man Fever" from 1982 by "Buckner and Garcia". The songs on it are so cheesy, but kind of catchy. Songs like "Ode to a Centipede" and "Do the Donkey Kong" compliment the title track. The cardboard sleeve is again worn, but the inside sleeve give you patters to beat the original Pac-Man console game, including hints on playing on a "fast machine" vs. a "slow machine".

So that that. Just thought I'd share those with you.

Peace!

I still have my LP of Star Wars a swell as the poster that came with it! You might want to check out ebay and see what kind of $ you could get for these by doing a search. I have an ebay account with a very high seller rating if you need help and want to go that route. :)

Allen

I've done eBay. Between the fees for ebay and the fees for Pay Pal, I didn't make any money. Had one guy sue me, claiming I falsely represented my item...

Nah. Just thought I'd share them with people who might appreciate them first....

And I do remember my Star Wars record coming with a poster, but that hung on my wall for years before it finally just degraded to the point that it fell apart!

Great pics thanks for showing us them.

No problem from me listing them here.  But you might do better with some type of larger web site.  Maybe Craig's List if you don't like eBay.  Also, try to find maybe a used record store near you.

Allen

Thanks, Rico.

I thought of Craig's list, but there is a collectibles store in the mall here that does stuff on consignment. They have some star wars/star trek stuff, but they also have swords and antique signs and all kinds of stuff. I'll probably take them there.

Anyone have experience buying/selling/trading records like this? Private message me if you do, I'm interested in what might be considered a fair price.

On a humorous note, my wife just reminded me that these are the last of the massive Star Wars collection I had when she met me. I had all the original action figures and the Millenium Falcon and the Death Star play sets, a huge stack of trading cards, I could go on and on.

I left them at my mother's house when I went to college. She gave them to my cousin who liked to blow things up with firecrackers..... (*sob*). I'm sure many of you have similar stories....

Thanks for letting me share!

Peace,
Allen
