First weekend, it was expected to do real well.  But with Trek coming out tomorrow and some of the weak reviews it will be interesting to see how much it drops this weekend.

Both Harry and I really enjoyed Wolverine.. it entertained both of us and we couldn't ask for more.. next up Star Trek.

Hey Kenny, PM me and let me know how it ended.  The fire alarm went off in the movie theater when Wolverine and his bro were
fighting on the nuke tower....
I have been and always will be, your friend.

Oh no, didn't you get a refund or a new ticket?

My Wife and I finally got out to see Wolverine. I enjoyed it, but will be the first to admit that I don't know a lot about the character or the history, so I enjoyed it from the perspective of not knowing anything past the X-men movies. Shaping up to be a great summer for movies.

Just watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine yesterday on DVD. I had seen it before and again I came up with the same question: If Sabretooth is Wolverine's brother, how come this wasn't brought up in the first movie? I know that Wolverine had lost his memory but wouldn't Sabretooth have remembered? Was this storyline in the comics or just in the last movie?

Just curious. This may have been previously discussed but it just boggles my mind.

Sabretooth didn't do much more than grunt in the first movie.  He was not a developed character in that film, for sure.  I don't remember when the first X-men was released and how it compared to the story arc in the comics, but it is probable that even the Marvel comics writers hadn't come up with that element of Wolverine's back story at that time.  I don't think I was was aware of Sabretooth being anything more than Wolverine's arch nemesis at the time the first Xmen movie came out.

Interestingly enough, I just saw a story that the person who released a pirate copy of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film onto the internet was actually caught and sentenced to a year in federal prison.  I remember when that happened, a copy without any special effects was leaked about a month before the film even came out in theaters.

Joby, I remember that too and good! I'm glad he was busted and has to serve time.

Z, when I first saw Wolverine I had the same reaction, then I started to think about the first X-Men movie. If you watch Sabertooth, (and of course I'm probably adding more to the story than is/was there!) it looks like he's really kind of "not all there" a lot of the time. Is it possible that either sometime between the events in Wolverine and the first X-Men something happened to him as it did to Logan? Or, maybe Magneto had a telepath wipe his memories, so that all he has are his feelings of aggression toward Logan?

Wow, you're a toughie.  I don't think a year in prison is an appropriate punishment for uploading a data file.  Fine him and garnish his wages for the rest of his life?  Okay I'd be on board with that.  But this guy didn't really harm anyone, and in my opinion putting him in a federal penitentiary to be roommates with killers, rapists, and child molesters for any amount of time is way too harsh.

Joby, lets agree to disagree. I personally have strong feelings regarding piracy like that. Once upon a time, I produced DVD's and had a video production company. You work very hard creating something, a product, that is your paycheck and for someone to come along and steal it? Yep, I am a toughie. Theft is theft. Not too harsh in my opinion. And yes, he did hurt someone: he stole from the people who created the movie. Doesn't matter if he was the one who obtained the first copy and distributed it, or if he just happened to download it from the internet, he contributed to the illegal distribution. And, since the law says no unauthorized distribution...he deserved to be punished. Let me ask you this (and yes, I know it's stretching it), if someone broke into your car, started it and drove away only to leave it parked somewhere a few days later, then it was returned to you undamaged, should that guy be punished? Or, since no one was hurt, should he be let off the hook? Just asking...

Well, do you want to agree to disagree or do you want me to respond?  You asked me direct questions after your first statement there.

Anyway, I'm not trying to change your mind or anything, just stating my opinion on it.  I say let the punishment fit the crime.  I'm not saying what he did was okay, or right, I'm saying jail time is not the correct punishment.  If you re-read what I wrote, you'll see I didn't suggest he shouldn't be punished at all, and to answer your question if someone steals my car...THROW THE BOOK AT 'EM!  But that has absolutely nothing to do with the issue ;)

The issue of downloading movies/software/music etc is a very sensitive one, and there are strong opinions on both sides. I respect your opinion Joby, and most likely the fact that at one time I (tried) to make a living creating videos and things colors my feelings about this. I know that if I ever were to find out someone took something I worked very hard on (leave that alone Meds! :) ), and started giving it away for free, I'd be pissed. That's really money out of my pocket. So, in the interest of Treky Goodness, I say let's jump off this topic...:)
