Oh, that episode totally took me by surprise. I loved every single minute of it.
I thought the neighbor was going to die for sure, simply because I never know where Joss is going to go with his storylines. Then all of a sudden, one of my favorite characters on the show turns into a killer. And better yet, she killed Sierra's handler, who very much deserved to die.
And Angela has said this a few times, but I'm gonna have to agree with the sentiment that Tahmoh Penikett go without his shirt more often. Le sigh...  :wub

Good episode last night.  Got some good background info.  And the stuff with Topher was great!  Next week's episode looks really cool.

Fox cuts short 'Dollhouse' (sort of)

Dollhouse_sc-32_0361 Fox has scheduled the season finale of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, but some sharp-eyed fans have noticed that there's something missing: the show's 13th episode.

The Dollhouse season finale airs May 8, titled "Omega," and is the show's 12th aired episode. But there's a 13th episode called "Epitaph One," directed by Whedon (the week after the finale Fox will air the Prison Break series finale as two hours).

Whedon compatriot Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), who had a role in the unscheduled episode, Twittered: "Man, day getting worse and worse. Found out my Dollhouse ep, #13 isn't gonna air. Only on DVD. Such a great part too. Thx Fox. :( ..."

And then later DrHorrible, the account from Whedon's Web show, Twittered, "It's true. Dollhouse ep 13 isn't going to air. This makes @feliciaday sad. How do you feel? Why don't share those feelings with FOX?"

Reps from the 20th Century Fox studio and from the network declined to comment, but there's a few differing perspectives out there.

One might argue that from Fox's point of view, the entire season order was fulfilled because Whedon reshot the pilot -- otherwise the network would have paid for 14 hours instead of 13. Sources also maintain the story in the "Omega" season finale is Whedon's original vision for how the season would end, so fans watching the show to the very end will not feel as if the storyline was cut short. Except, of course, that there is another episode, whose fate is unknown.

Despite Day's comment that "Epitaph One" will appear on the DVD, sources say nothing has been decided yet. Unaired episodes do tend to see daylight nowadays between DVD and online streaming, however, so the content will probably surface somewhere provided the studio decides to pay for postproduction.

All parties also insist the network has not cancelled Dollhouse, though obviously the network declining to air an episode isn't encouraging.

Well - again what can you say?  Poor Joss (and Felicia), but I really don't think we will be seeing a season two.  Nothing official and maybe Fox will surprise us, but I kind of doubt it.

Rico

I really liked last night's episode.  Some very good and interesting moments.  This show has gotten a lot more intriguing for me now.  Hope it gets to continue.

Great episode indeed!  Echo has really grown on me (as has Eliza D.).  I missed the last 2 or 3 episodes, so this one really had some surprises. Enjoyed the fleshing out of the woman in charge of the Dollhouse (I can't remember her name). Still a pretty cold-blooded character, but it was neat to get a peak at her human side, no matter how pitiful it might be.

The biggest thing I took away from the episode was just how twisted and horrifying the Dollhouse premise is-- the scene with Helo and his neighbor was pretty freaky!

A question to those in the know- is the season finale the series finale, or is that still up in the air?

Rico

No decision on if it will be back next year - yet.  Still some episodes to go.

Great episode, interesting *ahem* outfit as well....   :shocked

Here are some interesting comments from Joss.  Still four episodes to go and if they do well the show may return.

Joss Whedon, creator of Fox's sci-fi series Dollhouse, told reporters that there is still a chance that Fox will pick the show up for a second season, provided the remaining four episodes do well—especially with a new lead-in, Prison Break, which replaces Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in the timeslot before, starting April 24.

"The question is, with a different lead-in, will anything change?" Whedon said in a group interview Wednesday in Hollywood before appearing on a Paley Festival panel about the show. "Will Prison Break be a worse match for us because it's such a different show? Or will it be better because more people watch it? Do more people watch it? I don't know what the numbers on Prison Break are. So there are a lot of X factors."

The following Q&A features edited excerpts of Whedon's comments. Dollhouse airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on Fox.

I have all-new questions for you today.

Whedon: Well, good, because I have an all-new personality. Well, I changed my shirt. I know how to bring it. I've learned from the celebrities.

Have you heard anything official from Fox about when you'd hear about cancellation? Or have they told you if you hit a certain ratings number, that would be more favorable to a second season?

Whedon: They haven't said anything about a number, and they haven't said anything about a date. What they have said is "We get it. We get that the numbers are soft, but it's not a Nielsen world. The DVR numbers are good, and the show's getting better, and the demographic is good, and we all have a crush on [star and producer] Eliza [Dushku]." So they're basically fans.

Obviously, there has to be a number we reach that is viable for them economically, or it would be senseless for them, unless they were insane fans like me. But they get it. They get the show, and they get what works. So they're anxious for it to stay at a level where they can justify throwing down some more. Hopefully that'll happen.

Rumor is that Terminator, your lead-in, is essentially canceled. Does that give you any pause?

Whedon: No. I mean, Terminator did very poorly. I don't know why. I love it. That's why I'm not on that side of the fence, because I'm not a marketer. I don't know how these things work. It started strong, and it fell off for some reason. I liked it as a lead-in because, artistically, they were just a nice match. They both had a similar sensibility, and I think Terminator was a really interesting show that really plumbed the depths of its premise really well. So I was happy to be with it. But the fact is it was doing poorly, and we were doing better, but not great. I think, ultimately, nobody blames us. We did build on Terminator and usually on our own half hours most nights. It's anyone's guess at this point.

Did you sense you needed to wrap up the story if the season finale ends up being the series finale?

Whedon: I always have that sense. The trick is to do something that has a sense of closure and only asks questions, which is what we did. It does have a total sense of closure and a ridiculous number of cliffhangers at the same time in its own way, in a way that's very hard to describe. It's not like anything else I've ever done.

If you get a second season, have you already thought of a story arc?

Whedon: Yeah. Not an absolute total arc, but there's a bunch of stuff that we're already chomping at the bit to get to. We feel like this story is just too rich, and we barely scratched the surface. Although, I'll tell you, for the next four episodes, we scratch it really, really hard. It's going to bleed.

What would it take for fans to rally for a season two?

Whedon: I don't think it's a "Save Dollhouse" campaign. Basically, we've got a few more times up at bat. It's going to be up to the fans to be vocal in their own community to make sure people are watching, that we get those DVR numbers, that they don't slip. If they want to cold-call executives, that's good too, I guess. Or Twitter. A lot of people are Twittering. Ultimately, it's just holding the course, because I honestly began to think that we were dead in the water, and the people at Fox made a point of calling me to say, "That's not the case. We're still working it out. We're fans. We want this to work."

I hope it gets a shot at a season two. I want to see where the story is going. It just started to get interesting very late into the season.

Did anyone see last night's episode?
I know it had been leaked before, but... HOLY CRUD! WASH IS CRAZY ALPHA!

And better still, the Alpha and Echo kiss was just out of nowhere and perfect. Can't wait for next week.  :love
billybob476

This week's episode was AWESOME!
I hadn't heard anything about Alpha or the fact it was Wash. At first I was like "Oh awesome, Wash is the crazy engineer guy!" Then it turns out he's Alpha? WOW. This episode makes me really want this show to have a season 2.

I also felt really bad when Ballard zapped Topher.

I just hope the studio is taking into consideration all of the views it is recieving online.  I am assuming that many, like myself, watch alot of their TV shows online when it is convenient for them instead of during its live broadcast.  Have they learned nothing from Dr. Horrible? ::)
