The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum has one of the greatest collections of air and space displays in the world. Here are some pics from my visit this past weekend. First up is the Apollo 11 Command module which carried Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins to the moon. Amazing. Next is the last remaining L.E.M. built by Northrop Gruman but was never flown, obviously as it would still be on the moon! Then we have the full scale training mock up of the Sky Lab from the mid '70's. You can walk through the inside to see what it was like in the days before ISS and MIR. Oh, and how could I not include a picture of a model of V'ger!

They also have tons of other stuff. Here is the lobby which has Space Ship 1, the first sub orbital private vehicle, the Spirit of St. Louis, and the X1 which broke the sound barrier. Then there is the uber cool X-15 jet plane. Behind the X-15 is a Russian SS-20 ICBM. More US missiles including a Minuteman ICBM on the left. And for the WWII plane buffs and our British friends, the finest aircraft the UK has ever produced save for the Harrier, the Spitfire. Also, the greatest plane's the US and Nazi's produced during the war, the P-51 Mustang and Messerchmidt 109.

Great pics Bryan! I would have a field day at the Smithsonian!

Didn't realise you could get THAT close to the White House either...

You'd have to be fit enough to dodge bullets if you did that!   ;D
