If this is the story for the fourth installment of the Shrek movies I think it can be pretty good..

Is This How Shrek Goes Fourth?

Alex Litel's Lackluster Emporium has come upon a copyright pre-registration for DreamWorks Animation's Shrek Goes Fourth which may give our first look where the studio is headed with the story:

After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws' kingdom, what's an ogre to do? Well, if you're Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. What's happened to this ogre's roar? Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumplestiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumplestiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it's up to Shrek to undo all he's done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love.

DreamWorks Animation is eyeing a May 21, 2010 release in conventional and IMAX theaters.

It sounds something like Stargate Continuum in the Shrek-verse. A decent sci-fi premise. Should be fun!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

chevalier_noir

Bet it's not as good as Blackadder Goes Forth!

The first and second were good, but the third tanked hard.  They are going to have to amp it up a little if they want people to watch the fourth movie.  It sounds like an interesting concept, so it should be interesting.

Wow.. you really think Shrek the Third tanked hard.. well if these number are tanking.. let's hope four tanks as well..

Shrek  (dom)$42,347,760     (int)$267,655,011     (world)$484,399,218
Shrek 2    $108,037,878        $441,226,247                $919,838,758
Shrek 3    $121,629,270        $322,719,944                $798,958,162

KingIsaacLinksr

Doh...Sorry, I could have sworn I heard the numbers were down when they released it.  *sigh*.  Guess I'm wrong again....

In any case, I did feel it wasn't nearly as good as the first or second one.  But that is my opinion.

ha ha ha ha. Don't' forget your stick lieutenant.

Lets face it Shrek the 3rd was a huge pile of pants. Yeah it pulled in the bucks but it was still a poor film. This fourth instalment does sound very promising and I'll be going to see it.

Again those are you opinions and obviously they are in the minority or it wouldn't have made almost 800 million worldwide.

Well we are all allowed our opinions but can you really state that shrek 3 was better than 1 or 2, surely not. Just because it makes a load of money doesnt make it a good film. The Phantom Menace is a classic example of that.

I'd have to disagree with that Kenny. There are some movies that make a ton of money, but aren't really that good to the majority of people that it's supposed to appeal to. Phantom Menace made a lot of cash, but it was a poor movie to a majority of star wars fans. When you go from pointing out the problem to looking for actual good parts, to me that's a problem.

Shrek III was for me a waste of time. The movie was entertaining, but the plot was weak and given that it's a kids movie, that's fine, but for some adults, it makes it a poorer movie for it.

Geekyfanboy

I have no issue with folks giving their opinions.. what gets me upset is when people through out blanketed statement that a movie sucks.

And I state again though you did not like either Shrek 3 or SW 1 they did very well at the box office so a majority of people saw the movie, not only once but on repeated occasions. Does that make it a good movie.. maybe not but it does make it popular with the majority of people enjoyed.

And if you go back to read my original post it was in response to King stating that Shrek 3 tanked.. I pointed out with facts that it did not tank.

Oh dont get me wrong i agree that yes it did its job (eg making its money back and making a whoppingbig profit) and fair play to them. They will need to get this one right if they are going to carry on with this franchise and Mike Myers really does need to get his act together.

chevalier_noir

I am a big 30 year old kid who loves the Shrek movies, I was not making any statement on the Films.  I was just making a small joke on the "goes forth" statement.

celestialteapot

I'm in the minority who thought the first film was terrible and was completely amazed it won the first Oscar for Animated Film... I liked the second one better and didn't know that there was a third one. I know there is a Shrek 3D film that came out whilst I was working in Blockbusters for my sins, but I'm guessing that they don't count this as a film.
This question has baffled mankind for all eternity... why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

ElfManDan

I recall I loved the first one, but my friends and I were at about the perfect age I think when it came out. I don't know how many times we watched it after it came out on DVD. I liked the second and didn't care enough to see the third. I still haven't.
