Played some of these a while back, the maps seem to be coming on leaps and bounds!

Who is working on this game? I've never heard of any other Star Trek MMOs other than Star Trek Online. Looks cool!

I think these are just some fan made modifications to the old Voyager "Elite Force" game.  Many "shooter" type games and others live on in the fan community and they create elaborate modifications to them.  Pretty neat!

Though that's one thing that no company (that I know of) has implemented yet. A full first-person MMO with shooter-type combat.

That could be an interesting angle.

Heh, seems as though it did. Never played it but it seems like it'd be a cool mechanic. As far as I know Tablua Rasa had other issues which hurt it.

Yeah, I have Star Trek Bridge Commander, and they have done lots of modifications to that game so that you can play any and all Star Trek, Star Wars or other Sci-Fi Ships.

This is just similar work.  Its pretty cool what people can do to these games.

Yeah they are great fun. The RPG mod for elite force has hundreds of maps and skins so you can pretty much play any era you want. You can play in 3rd person style too so you can interact with others and see your own character. Since elite force can be picked up pretty cheaply and is old enough to run on modest hardware, most anyone can play it.

Jen

Is this a PC game? Will it run on Vista/laptop? :)

Elite force is pretty old, it should run no problem.

Hey, I didn't know about any of this! I must dig out my old Elite Force CDs and try and get them running on the new laptop.

Where do all these mods live?

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

If anyone wants to try it out all the info on the RPG mod can be found here:

Not sure if Vista might have some issues since the game was designed for Win95/98.

I don't think Elite Force 1 has a problem with Vista Jen. There have been reports of it working really well.
