This sound promising.

ABC Family Picks Up Middleman

ABC Family has picked up the supernatural drama pilot The Middleman for a full series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The production schedule and launch date of the new series have yet to be determined because of the writers' strike.

Middleman, from writer-producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost), stars Natalie Morales as a 20-something struggling artist recruited by a secret agency to fight comic-book-type villains. Matt Keeslar plays the title character, a superhero who serves as her guide.

This looks kind of quirky and fun.

Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) thought mindless temp jobs were tough. Then she bravely faced a creature way beyond the bounds of her reality, and in so doing, impressed the straight-laced hero known as the Middleman (Matt Keeslar). Hello, new career! Now she's balancing her art, her friends, and saving the planet while battling alien evils for the world's most ludicrously secret organization. The Middleman -- fighting evil so you don't have to.

I watched this last night via my TIVO.  Lots of quirky humor and a real fun show.  The main actors are very appealing and I like the overall tone of the show.  Kind of "Men in Black" like - but not quite as serious.  Hope it sticks around for awhile.  I will be watching.

Just watched the first episode.. still have the second on my DVR. I agree with Rico.. quirky and fun. Not sure I love it.. but I like it enough to watch more and as Rico said the main actors are very appealing.

We are kind of enjoying it too.  Very American Dr. Whoish.  :)  Well kind of.  Not sure yet.

Yeah I've watched the first two episodes so far.. can't say I love it, but it's fun.. I'll continue to watch.

Rico

I'm enjoying it a lot.  It's like a cross between the old "Police Squad" show and "Men in Black."

You know what I miss?  Space Precinct.  That is what it reminds me of.

I watched a few clips on Youtube and the show looks like it's going to be a hoot!  I have to set my Tivo to record it.

Don't know if anybody else is still watching this but it's really become one of my favorites- there's only a couple of episodes left and it looks like it won't get a second season.

Here's a link to the Middleblog written by the show's creator, they list all the pop culture/comic book references in each episode amongst other things (wow, I missed half of the Val Lewton references in the last ep)-

Has anyone been watching this? This has been a feast of pop culture and a fantastic ride. Almost every episode pays homage to some other sci-fi tv show or movie.

The most recent one had nods to:

Batman, Back to the Future, Escape from New York, Star Trek, 1986, and Galaxy Quest.

I recommend everyone checking it out. It's been a great ride and I have to thank Angela for me putting it on my Tivo.
