New show, number 165 is now up.  Features a look at the episode "Fusion" from "Enterprise" and other goodies.  Enjoy!

moi·ré,  that's it!
You nailed it Rico, yay!  ;)

So it's said like a 'More - Ray'?  That word vexes me!

This is one of the oddest podcast you've had in a while.  Very very odd.

Good one otherwise.

Why is it "odd"?  I loved it. Though Fusion has always made me uncomfortable... It really bothers me... but I guess that was the writers' intent. I still enjoy the episode, it's just a little too parallel to real life situations for me.

Yeah, I don't like the guy who forces himself on T'Pol either...I don't think we're supposed to. Too bad Archer didn't have Worf on his ship in that era. He could have handled the Vulcan. Remember the episode where this happened to Deanna Troi? Hummm...well, I think it's happened twice, once in a movie and once in an episode, but  Worf totally back-fisted the jerk in the TNG episode. He dropped like a sissy and that was the best part—he finally got what he deserved. I loved how Archer reacted at the end...he's the big brother you want watching your back. And I think I like him better as a captain, than even... dare I say it? The geek girl's beloved Jean-Luc Picard. But only Scott Bakula could contend with Patrick Stewart for that title in my book.

Oh and the "Love Ship" was HILARIOUS! I almost choked when Rick sang the line "we're assaulting you".

Yeah, the episode is a bit hard to watch at times.  But it's an interesting one.  I just wish Porthos was around to bite Tolaris before Archer tossed him off  his ship.  ;)

Great podcast as usual. I have to say I tend to like the 'clip' style shows a bit more then the full episode commentary. It allows you to be a bit more critical and get a bit deeper into the episode then on the full commentaries.

Rico

There's always a trade off.  I get people that like the full episode ones better.  So I try to mix it up, but I tend to favor the clip shows too and those will be the majority.

The episode was just peculiar.  The weird transition clips, some of the things listeners sent in, and the "Love Boat" (rofl).  I'm not saying it was bad, it was just different from regular shows.

I have not watched this episode in a long time.
Not a "feel good" story, Fusion does play on your emotions. I agree with Jen and King - it's dark and uncomfortable to see the negative (evil?) side of a Vulcan revealed.
Though not bound by official diplomatic protocol with this bunch and short of throwing him out an air lock, Archer handled this jerk effectively. By season 4 he would have!

Rick really lightened the mood with his vocal stylings of "Love Ship"! That was awesome - you've got a good set of pipes

I've not actually seen this episode so it was all new to me. Really enjoyed the podcast (as usual) and have really got the urge to watch it. Especially as a few people are saying they find the episode uncomfortable. Intresting.

Well one thing that bothered me is, I always though that T'Pol's rigid Vulcan upbringing would prevent any such mental invasions....

They address that in the episode.  At first she resists the mind meld and he can't get inside her head.  Then, she lets her barriers down and he melds.  But she tells him to stop and he doesn't until T'Pol pushes him away breaking physical contact.  My thought was once inside her head he was kind of in control, being the more experienced melder.  Hope that helps and makes sense.
