I know some of you know this already, but there is going to be a new prop/toy made for the original Star Trek series communicator.  This looks to be of pretty good quality for the price.  Entertainment Earth has a slightly Exclusive version that says one extra phrase (9 total).  Get your preorders in now!  Due in March.

Is this the ST-Experience Comm from a few years ago with the lights and sounds? If so, it's awesome. In fact here is my little Art Asylum and ST-Experience Comm display stand!

Rico

Yep - that's a very nice comm.  I've got one of those.  Pretty much molded off a Master Replicas comm I think.  Nice stand too Bryan!

Does anyone know if a AA TOS Tricorder is planned?  Would be great to complete the set.

Haven't heard of one yet.  But I'd say it's a good possibility.

Dan M

I ordered mine yesterday from New Force Comics.

Rico

I just got two of them from Entertainment Earth with the extra phrase added (special edition).  Pretty nice item.  I'll review one probably next weekend on the podcast.

Rico

It's on sale now here for only $25.  It's not the Entertainment Earth version so it lacks one of the phrases, but still a great item and good deal.

Awesome!  How is the "spinny" effect on the round disk at the top of the face of the open communicator achieved?  Is it an optical illusion, or are there actual mechanical parts that move?  Either way, it's pretty sweet!  My favorite part- it makes the little "e-e-e-e" noise when you flip it open.   ;D

Ordering one tonight!

Rico

The spinning moire is a motor that moves a disc of one pattern over another a disc.
