McG Is Definite for Terminator 4

http://www.sliceofscifi.com/2007/11/16/mcg-is-definite-for-terminator-4/

Story Submitted by: Adam Sellers (SoSF Contributor)

McG ("We Are Marshall," "Chuck," "Supernatural"), as of last night, has officially signed on to direct the new Terminator 4. Titled "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins ," Warner Bros. recently gave the film a greenlight and is looking for filming to begin sometime in early 2008 for a summer 2009 release. The script, by John Brancato ("The Net") and Michael Ferris ("Primeval"), was locked in this October, well before the writer's strike. Brancato and Ferris also wrote the sceenplay for "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines."

The fourth film is described as being as big in size and scale as the third film in the franchise, yet will be able to come in at a smaller budget since Arnold Swartzenegger isn't attached drawing a huge paycheck. Also not returning are Claire Danes and Nick Stahl, according to joblo.com.

On an interesting side note: the screenwriter, Michael Ferris, recently opened a website that allows visitors to submit scripts for short films. Ferris will help get the scripts to his agents and managers.

Thats cool news...I think. I am not sure how I feel about no Arnold in this one. I am sure I will go see it, as it sounds like they are putting a lot into it. I thought T3 was ok, but no where near T1 and T2, so this one I am not going to set a lot of high expectations for.

Wow; I can't believe that the franchise is still alive and kicking.  Governator or no Governator, I plan on seeing it.

I'm with you on that.  I figure; if I just go in looking for some mindless, sci-fi fun, I won't be disappointed.  Heck; I might even be pleasantly surprised.

I think the major fans will give it a look but the most hardcore fans believe that the second one ended the series.  Everything else is like fan fiction.

If it were me, I would set the timeframe to a few weeks before Kyle goes back in T1.   Behn could reprise his role - with enough makeup.   We'll see about this one.   T3 was a piece of crap - sorry if this offends but the female terminator - who starred in the blockbuster (excuse me while I die laughing) BloodRayne -- was awful.

No, I did not like the movie.  Even Ah-noldt couldn't save it

T4 with no arnold means....not a good movie.  But I'll watch it anyway.

Why do you feel that move to make the TX a woman was a bad move.. I actually liked that part.. it was just a weak story.

KingIsaacLinksr

Foot in mouth again, ignore I said that.  What I really meant is that she just...didn't seem evil enough.  Maybe thats me?...

I really like T3 better than T2 but not as much as T1. I will look forward to this new film, Arnold or no arnold, and will relish the fact that the series is still alive!

No problem with a female TX - just not THAT female.  :)

I liked T3 and the female Terminator.  Not up to the level of Terminator 2 of course, but still a solid movie I thought.  Have to see how this fourth one comes out.

Blackride

I really liked T3 and was suprised by the ending. I was hoping they would stop while they are ahead. but hey I am a sucker for SciFi so here's hoping!
Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

The only way I can explain what came out after T2 is with Christian Theology.  They met to decided what books were devine inspired and which were not consistant.  In the same way, the video games and movie and comics, etc that came out after would be like the books not included in the bible because they don't apear to go with it.  And I think that Cameron's vision is the only thing that we can really "cannonise" and the rest is worth a look but doesn't feel to me like it goes with Cameron's story.
