I'm completely with you on that idea. I love this show more each episode, but I think that there is a twist to that whole touching thing. Have we seen him touch something, anything, after more than a few minutes have passed? I think that when the bad thing happens, then he can't undo it anymore. Talking in code to avoid spoilers.

He can't undo it after a few minutes...something else has to pay the consequences because he let the other thing's time elapse.... It's usually in close proximity. I think he tried to use it in the pilot after a few minutes (can't say on who/what because of spoilers) and it didn't work...remember?  Wow...this makes no sense. Talking in code is hard.  :D

Just watched last nights episode.. this series continues to amaze me with the excellent writing and quirky look of the show. I can't get enough of it. This now my favorite show on TV at the moment. I'm bummed that we are only going to get nine episodes this season (if the strike continues) but I guess nine episodes of goodness is better then none.

Another fantastic episode tonight.. I love Chuck's and Olives relationship. Olive loves Ned but Ned loves Chuck and the two woman are becoming best friends and are very open with how they feel towards Ned and each other. And it was so bitter sweet when Olive realizes at the end of the episode that she really let the man of her dreams walk out of her life. That guy was sweet on Olive and she was so unaware of it. Molly Shannon was great in this episode. I just love all the quirky characters.

Jen

I'm glad they're becoming friends. Olive is my favorite character on that show...I like that she's not a wicked witch. It makes me feel for her more than I would if she was mean.

Finally watched it in HD last night. It looked so pretty. The colors were fantastic. The story was great.

Watched the last produced episode last night... WOW... huge revelation. It was the perfect cliffhanger ending. I love this show and odds are good that it will be back next season as it does gt decent ratings and the fact that today it got best actor, best actress and best comedy golden globe nods is a good thing.

Trekkygeek

Saw the first episode last night and really enjoyed it. The humour was great, the colours were bright and the writing seems intelligent. Nice to hear Jim Dale again, I haven't sen or heard from him since the "Carry On" films. Anna friel as the love interest, an actress from over here who has had something done to her teeth and is now quite goofy and not as lovely as she used to be. One thing though, Being a gentleman, wouldn't he have helped her out of the grave? thus touching her and killing her? And how did he not touch his dog again before finding out that he couldn't do it? Only minor quirks though. On the whole, I think i'm gonna enjoy this as it has a Desperate Housewives charm to it

'Pushing Daisies' Gets A Push From Strike

By MARX PYLE

The writers strike was a nightmare for viewers. For a few months there was nothing to watch but reality TV, reruns and fresh episodes of shows that the network held as late as they could.

New shows for the fall seemed to appear and disappear to fast to really build up an audience. The big surprise though is that the strike might actually have been a good thing for some newcomer shows, especially ABC's Golden Globe-nominated "Pushing Daisies."

Before ending, "Pushing Daisies" was severely falling behind in the schedule and going way over budget.

"We needed a longer post- production time than we initially anticipated," creator and executive producer Bryan Fuller told Variety. "We were bumping against air dates, and were hemorrhaging money to pay for accelerated post production costs."

But the hiatus has now giving producers time to polish things up. So, instead of trying a relaunch "Pushing Daisies" and other shows this spring, the networks have decided to hold off and start fresh next fall.

"This was the best possible result," Fuller said. "We look at this year's nine episodes as a teaser season. It's a huge risk, but then it falls in the network's hands to really support the show and relaunch it. They made such a spectacular investment in the show creatively that I have every confidence they'll continue to stand behind us."

So, more time to polish scripts and get productions in order with a fresh fall start to rebuild the fan base. Is there a bad side here? Well, there is if you are one of the crew members. Those crews that have been out of work because of the strike are now going to be out of work even longer, forcing many to find new jobs.

"It's one of the unfortunate realities of the strike," says Fuller who sees this as "frustrating and disappointing."

The final pre-strike episode had a doozy of a cliffhanger that revealed that Charlotte Charles's (Anna Friel) aunt Lily (Swoosie Kurtz) is actually her mother. Fuller made sure to throw it in the episode, in case it ended up being the season finale. Now what was once going to be resolved midway through Season 1 is now going to define the next season's direction and Fuller couldn't be happier.

"The time off during the break allowed me to rethink where we were going and flush out a more dramatic story," Fuller said. "It came out of a realization that if that's our cliffhanger, it couldn't go the direction it was going. Now it will have a much broader impact on the characters and the series. It's much richer than the original plan."

Unfortunately, the shortened season does confuse things for some bubble shows, like "Moonlight" and "Reaper." Because of this unusual season, there is no way of knowing how long it will be until their fate is finally announced.

Daisies 'Harder' In Year Two

Bryan Fuller, creator of ABC's fantasy series Pushing Daisies, promised fans that the show will have a "harder and a little more aggressive ... style of storytelling in the second season" in a panel at the William S. Paley Television Festival in Hollywood on March 15.

Fuller said that the show's writers returned a week ago, in the wake of the recently settled writers' strike, to begin coming up with ideas for the show's second season, which kicks off in September.

"We've come up with some really exciting things in just a week, and we're all sort of chomping at the bit, and I've started writing the first episode, and we've got the first five episodes approved by the network," Fuller told a sold-out audience at the Cinerama Dome theater.

Fuller also offered spoilers for the upcoming season. Among them: "Chuck [Anna Friel] will definitely find out who her real mother is, and it's going to be interesting to see how she reacts to that information and how the piemaker [Lee Pace] tries to control her trajectory and how that will complicate their relationship," Fuller said. "And it's some nice surprises."

Another storyline will pick up the thread of private investigator Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) and his search for his missing daughter.

And Fuller promised that he will try to bring back guest star Raúl Esparza, who played Alfredo Aldarisio, the love interest of Olive Snook (Kristen Chenoweth). "We love Raúl Esparza, and we love the romantic chemistry that he had with Kristen, so we have every intention of bringing him back, and we just need to write the scripts and make sure he's available," Fuller said.

Fuller added that producers plan to release a soundtrack CD, which will feature score music by James Dooley and songs by cast members Ellen Green and Chenoweth, who are also known for their performances in Broadway musicals.

For all you UK fans...

UK Fans Will Miss Pushing Daisies' 2nd Episode
Posted by Michael Hickerson on Wednesday, 16 Apr 2008

Just to prove that boneheaded network scheduling decisions aren't just made by FOX, Britian's ITV Network is playing havoc airing Pushing Daisies.

According to Yahoo News!, the American-made series debuted last weekend to solid ratings.  The show pulled in 5.7 million viewers and is one of the first American shows to make a primetime debut on standard television in the United Kingdom in several years.

But when it came to the timeslot this week, Daisies faced stiffer competition in the form of the BBC's annual Eurovision Song Contest.  ITV decided to pull the second episode, but there is a twist.  The network has decided to skip the second episode.

According to an ITV spokesperson, the episode didn't have enough serialized drama to keep it on their schedules.

"Episode 2 was the only show we could drop without spoiling the storyline," the spokesperson said. In eight weeks time, ITV will again become home to soccer, and Pushing Daisies needs to be done by then so that it doesn't interfere. That means the loss of episode two.

UK fans have already begun expressing their displeasure at the move on various boards and web-sites related to the show.

Some might say Bryan Fuller has a gay agenda to push, but the creator of ABC's cute hit series "Pushing Daisies" says it's not the kind of agenda anyone would imagine.

Fuller, who is openly gay himself, says he tries to not follow stereotypical lines in introducing gay character, and that is what helped him decide that the one character on his ABC show who will be outed in coming episodes, is none other than the coroner, played by Sy Richardson.

"We were going to slowly expand his character and kind of reveal that he has a little crush on Emerson" played by Chi McBride, Fuller recently told AfterElton. "I didn't want to just do another, like, pretty gay person. I thought it would be interesting to have an older character be gay."
