Did a lot of work on the main web site page today.  New template and look.  Still have some work to do but it's getting there.  Let me know what you all think.

Nice job Rico.. I really like the collage you put together for the skypecast.

Ktrek

I like the original page far better but whatever you want to do is fine with me. I rarely visit the main page anyway.

Looks like it's coming together. I'm liking the "vast unknown" theme with the dark colors and mysterious galaxy spinning in the background...

The slider feature showing each podcast with short description is way cool.

Maybe tie it all together with a subtle shade lighter or darker translucent beveled framework.

Has the podcast player always been on the home page? It would be nice if the audio continued as you navigated around the site,
(of course you might want to put that idea up for a vote).

The menu items on top - Home, Forums...etc are still acting a little flaky, or it could be my browser (Safari).

Dave -
Thanks for the comments.  Each template has some unique features and looks so I can only customize so much as far as colors, etc.  The podcast player yes has been on the main page smack in the middle near the top for a long while now.  It's just a quick way to play the most recent podcast.  If you want the audio to continue all you have to do is open the forums or whatever else you want in a new browser tab or instance depending on the browser you use.  Obviously if you close the main page window the audio will stop.

As far as the forums I don't use Safari so I can't help you there.  On Firefox for me the forums have been working very well the last few days.

I really like the new layout. My only constructive criticism is that I find the background image is a bit much with the site content overlaid on top of it. However I'm partial to very subtle backgrounds so that's just my opinion. I really like the new title bar and menus and all the fun stuff going down the side columns.

All in all great work Rico!

Rico

Yeah - the background is pretty easy to swap out.  I'm going to try a few others today and see what I like.

I personally liked the format you had before.  But hey, change is good.  Maybe I'll like this evetually XD.

Yes - as Kenny says and so does an announcement on the top of the main page I am in the process of attempting to move the forums.  You may see the template change here once in awhile over the next day or two.

But I don't fire phasers unless things get really bad.

Just commenting on the decor.  It looked like you were letting the Andorians take over.  LOL

As a Mac user, I have decided to stop using Safari. Web developers rarely check their sites on it. I work with them all the time and their excuse is always "there aren't that many Mac users". I'm not referring to Rico, just the programmers I work with. There's always a broken frame or table or field somewhere that won't work for me. I use the upload site "yousendit.com". Safari won't load files to it. So I switched to  Firefox...I have had the most luck with that browser. I highly recommend it. :)

Also, Rico, I liked your other site, but this one is nice too.
