Heh.

You're right Rico. They will remake anything that sounds cha-ching!

I really like the classic movie. Not sure if it should be remade by Keanu and co.

Remakes suck as much as covers in music because people these days won´t risk it and just go with whatever worked in the past.

To me it's a total lack of creativity.

Hollywood is at a loss for new and original ideas anymore and so they have to milk the classics over and over again.

I'm not sure I care for this news as it is one of those films that is iconic in the sci-fi genre. Not to mention that what made the film work in the 50s was the cold war with Russia. So, how will they be able to pull off the main arc of the film without that? I don't think they can. So, what we will be left with is some rewritten and watered down version. In any case I have yet to see one remake that was actually better than the classic film.

please, please PLEASE tell me this is a joke.  Please.  Keanu Reeves?!?!  I like him and all but I still have a HUGE problem with a remake of this particular movie.

While some people like to look down on remakes. I think that they are a perfectly valid form of entertainment.

If we look at film as the evolution of theater, then it makes perfect sense for there to be remakes. If you've ever been to see a play, they do remakes every time it shows. It doesn't make it less entertaining to me, but more.

Having seen this preview, I'm adding this to my must see list in the slot that was formerly reserved for Star Trek.

It looks pretty good.  I will probably go see it.  I really don't like remakes.  The remake of the War of the Worlds was okay.  We'll just have to see.

Saw the trailer during Hancock.  Keanu is a good choice but I'm still a bit leary on this one.   Wait n' see.

It looks alright...

But I'm a sucker for Alien Contact / Invasion films.  I enjoyed ID4 and the remake of War Of The Worlds. If it involves modern day folks encountering extraterrestrials, I'm there!  ;D

"Earth Stood Still" Reshoots Underway?
By Garth FranklinThursday, September 11th 2008 12:04am

The production team for Fox's remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" are back at work in Downey, California conducting reshoots reports IESB.Net.

Their source indicates that filming is 'rather extensive' and will go on for a full week with speculation that these reshoots may be taking place to accommodate the just announced IMAX release of the film.

Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly have been called back to redo some scenes as well. The film is still set for release on December 12th in both conventional theaters and in IMAX.
