Possibilities for Season Three.

It just wouldn't be Star Trek if there wasn't a time travel episode involved.
The Tiberius could some how run into Archer's Enterprise. As I recall Archer's crew was briefly mixed up in  temporal Cold War. Maybe the Tiberius was connected. Thoughts? Ideas? Objections?

I was actually going to start a similar thread like this, but as Jen beat me to it...oh well ;)

Time Travel definately sounds good, but I would have to think about how we would pull it off.  Or heck the story we have to do.  But as our characters have two weeks of shore leave, we can surely figure something out.

I'll have to sleep on it....

Time travel is always fun, but it can get complicated. Maybe we could run into someone ELSE time traveling, who is trying to stop us from doing something right, but that ultimately turns out wrong.

Like, we save a ship full of colonists, and place them on a planet, but the planet gets hit by an asteroid in the future, and the leader of a resistance cell is never born. But they can't tell us that, because they aren't allowed to alter the time line. They can just make it hard for us to accomplish our mission by causing a plasma leak, or rerouting sensors, or erasing system maps, that sort of thing.

And the aliens they are a resistance to could be ... humans. In the future, the Federation has taken a decidedly more militant turn, and is now practicing gunboat diplomacy. They "invite" members they way the Corleones "protected" small businesses, all to make a massive push across the neutral zone and stop the Romulans once and for all. Or the Dominion. Yeah, the Dominion makes more sense. They found another way through to us in the future, and, fearing another Dominion War and the loss of member worlds (if not the actual members) and losing power, the Federation begins to "recruit" more heavily and "protect" more forcefully, until it is no better than the systems it replaced. The Prime Directive is a thing of the past, and they are arming agrarian worlds and "actively recruiting" their strong young workforce.

OK, this may be just a jumble, but hopefully there is something we can use.

If'n you don't like that one, I had an idea that Species 8472 had planted a homing device on Voyager, and as soon as they got home, 8472 destroyed the Federation and vanished back into the night, the Romulans quickly filled the void and became the dominant power in the universe, the Ferengi became much more powerful since they were allowed to operate with impugnity as long as they tithe the Rommulans, and the Klingons were gearing up for one final battle Ala "300" that would be the swan song of the Klingon race. In the midst of this is one lone starship (freighter) and it's cast of characters who were trying to rebuild the Fed by visiting ex-member worlds, and finding 7 scientists that the Rommies had squirreled away who were working on a Top Secret thing for the Fed, but didn't get to finish, and it could turn back time and save everyone.

Just some thoughts.

I like the second idea with the Species 8472 story line better.  I think your first idea is somewhat already played in a previous Star Trek episode.  In fact, it reminds me of two stories: 1: the one where the "historian" comes back from the 26th Century in Star Trek TNG and the second from Star Trek First Contact, with the whole: borg kill the warp experiment before it happens to prevent the Federation from forming.  Just my thoughts though.

Still thinking of ideas myself.

True. Of course, honestly, many episodes of TV are the whole "Save the future, save the person, send someone back, etc" storyline.

On the other hand, Cory Doctorow once paraphrased the comment, "There are only two stories. Someone comes to town, someone leaves town."

lol lol  Actually, my favorite High School English Teacher had a favorite saying: "There are only 7 types of stories."  Or something like that, I'm afraid its been too long since I've heard it.  But yes, sooner or later your going to semi-copy another story.  Just like Eragon and Star Wars are very similar in structure and how the story goes.  Although there are many differences.

What if Admiral Talbot is the target of an assassin? Maybe someone from the temporal time war wants to off him because of his Romulan/Vulcan heratiage. Maybe his presence in Starfleet marks a turning point of some type. I think Geoff joked that he might have to spy on him. Maybe he has to protect him? I like the time travel ideas but think it would be more interesting if they were tied back to several of our characters. It would allow us to further develop back stories for them...and since this season is all about character development, that might be a good option.

"Ahh - I've been stabbed!"  Hehe....   Cool idea.  I'll play along.  His mixed heritage was influenced by some of the things going on in the last Trek movies and Spock on Romulus.  The idea of the Federation and the Romulans eventually working together like the Klingons did with the Federation.  Perhaps some type of attempt on his life to trigger a war or something?  Just some thoughts.

I like it. Character development ... developing ...

Yes, that ties in well...In the profile I wrote for Sevryll, I mentioned that her father has worked with Spock in the reunification. Maybe he can make an appearance at some point.
