Anyone who has been reading DC comics for the past few years has noticed the trend of Crisis' that have been popping up repeatedly since Crisis on Infinite Earths over 20 years ago.

Well, today there was a new Crisis announced. Final Crisis is to start in May of 2008 right at the end of Countdown, which occurred after 52, which told the story of a year with The Big 3 (Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman) directly after Infinite Crisis, which was set in motion by events in Identity Crisis.

Now, I enjoy all these series very much. But I can see the general reader getting Crisis Exhaustion very soon. For me, if the story is compelling, I don't care WHAT they call it. But naming it Final Crisis may be a bit disingenuous, as no one truly believes it will BE the Final Crisis.

CHUD has a pretty good take on this, and if the DC message boards are a bit lukewarm, see above comment about Crisis Exhaustion.

Admiral Piett: Impossible! Are calcs proves us otherwise.

I read 52 but it didn't really pull me in much.  I'm skipping Countdown.  Most of you know already I've always been more a fan of the Marvel books than DC, but I do mix it up sometimes.  There are some DC books I like and have been reading lately too.  Not sure on this next Crisis series yet.  Oh well, I have awhile to decide on it still.

I read the first half of 52 on a weekly basis and it didn't grab me.  But, I read the last half in about a week, and it was engrossing.

I'm enjoying Countdown more, I think because it feels more current than the story of what happened during the previous year.

I don't know anything about this new Crisis, but I hope it's good.
