Ok so what do we think is the best way to travel distances in space based on the various shows we watch? Your criteria are obviously safety, reliability and accuracy.

Star Wars - Lightspeed, fast by requires precise navigation to avoid those pesky planets.
Star Trek - Warpspeed, various speed increments, no accuracy issues, prone to catastrophic failures (how many warp cores have been ejected?)
Babylon 5 - Hyperspace, requires navigation beacons to travel safely but gates allow for small vessels to travel the same way as larger ships.
Battlestar Galatics - FTL seems to require some rather precise and antiquated navigation methods
Andromeda - Slipstream, can have navigation issues
Stargate - Hyperdrive, nothing special just point and go
Stargate - Wormhole, can be unstable if you name is Carter and u mess with the overides a lot

I think I like SW Lightspeed and B5 Hyperspace. SW just needed that little bit of manual intervention to make it a bit more interesting. B5 was like sailing on a see, you had to follow channels and watch for currents that could cause you to stray.

So anyone got anything else and their own preferences?

If you can remain calm when all around you are panicking, you probably didn't understand the question

Of course I'll have to go with Warp Speed as my favorite!  It seems Galactica uses some type of jump technology.  One minute they are in one place and the next in another.

I would have to also go with Warp Drive. I think it's more scientifically probable that time and space ccould be warped to travel vast distances without everyone you know dying before you reach your destination.

Beam me up! Transporters are the way to go if you're traveling short distances. Oh how I wish I could beam to work instead of having to drive.

Warp Drive would be my choice for long distance traveling.  ;)
