Agh...the trailer's apparently no longer available? I would have liked to have seen it.

I've mentioned before in a similar post but it bares repeating....it's often difficult to tell if someone is being critical or sarcastic when reading something that's written. We can't hear each other's voice inflections so we don't always know when people are being snide or simply attempting to be humorous. The use of the  :)   ;D  :D  ;) emoticons sometimes helps to make that a little more clear.  I think I also mentioned that edict should be observed when debating....it should be used for every post whether your asking how the weather is or debating who's the better captain.  For more information on the edict used on these boards see Rico's recent re-posting of the Forum Rules.

CJLP, you have made some thought provoking, interesting comments in other posts, but I wish you could be less confrontational when making them. I would enjoy debating you more if your rebuttals didn't usually hold a note of negativity. I think that's what Kenny meant.  I'm offering you a bit of friendly advice here, so don't go off. It might help if you dropped the excessive use of bold and underline text as well as the emoticons that indicate frustration (Ex: :P  >:(  :mad2:  :wallbash:  :taz  :hate.)
Please consider this when you express your ideas and try not to get defensive with the moderator or owner of the boards... it only complicates things.  :)

Cloverfield Hype Begins

The mysterious teaser trailer playing with Transformers this weekend touts Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams' upcoming SF project, an as-yet-untitled movie code-named Cloverfield, and a viral Web promotion has also begun.

Two new viral Web sites have gone live, Ethan Haas Was Right and Ethan Haas Was Wrong, with puzzles somehow related to the movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the entire project has moved forward under a cloak of secrecy. Abrams is producing the film, which is being directed by Matt Reeves, who co-created Abrams' Felicity, and it's written by Drew Goddard, who has worked with Abrams on Lost and Alias.

To cast the film, no scripts or even scene pages were sent out; agents who were contacted were simply asked if their client wanted to be in the movie or not. The cast includes Michael Stahl-David (The Black Donnellys), Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel (Supercross) and Lizzy Kaplan (The Class). The movie is slated to open Jan. 18, 2008.

Jen, if I say something negative about something, it's because I feel negatively about it.  If I use bold, itallics, or underline, it's to emphasisze the word/s.  I'm generally not sarcastic, but when I am... I usually follow up with a laugh or eye roll.  Generally, I try to keep my posts balance with objective and personal viewpoints in addition to both possitive and negative commentary.  I'll try to balance out future posts. :)

StarTrekFanatic5, they are heavilly promoting this movie, aren't they?  I'm not into these little website games, though.  Do you know when the official website (one that has information on the movie) will be up?

Locutus

No telling, but it could be in August. August 1, 2007, to be exact. If you play the "little website games", you'd get more info.

Nope.. no idea.. there official website went live a few days ago but there is only a picture up.. nothing else yet. August 1st seems to be a date that has been going around.. maybe they'll launch it then. I'll post it as soon as I find out.

One of the trailers is gone.. but the second one is still up.. watch while you can. Paramount is really cracking down on leaks for this film.. which just adds to the mystery.

Geekyfanboy

Wow.. people are going crazy over this... it's very exciting.

A Full Analysis of the picture at the 1-18-08 website, and a deeper look into the audio and lines of the mysterious trailer, comment your ideas and speculations!

I guess we'll all find out on August 1st, thanks.  I'm not going to play games to get the information.  If it's not easy to find, I'll just move on to some other webpage.

Ah, so that is the official website... they just don't have any content yet, thanks!

Good for Paramount for cracking down and keeping this movie a mystery.  I miss the old days when I knew absolutely nothing about a movie (besides the preview) before watching.

This was hidden in the "source" text of the website.

"...war came, no longer from the elemental nor from the star's rain of fire. The world was again remade, and the glow was as the coming of the sun upon the Earth. The children of the gods were again too few, scattered and divided and among them walked the ancients and those whose thoughts were not as to the towers and the marvels, but to the End and the destruction of the Earth and to the fires from which nothing could escape."

Hey, way to be proactive.

Playing games is part of the fun when it comes to these types of movies, finding hidden clues and videos.. this just deepens the mystery.. but I guess it's not for everyone.

Thanks for the info on the Movie Kenny. I am really looking forward to this, and when I saw the trailer the other day before Transformers, it really got my attention. Looks like they are going to have fun promoting it over the next little while.

JoSpiv

Maybe it's The Lost Experience: The Movie.   LOL

Well it looks like the whole Ethan Haas thing isn't part of the JJ's new movie... or is it??

JJ Abrams drops Harry a Line on all this 1-18-08 stuff!

Hey folks, Harry here... There's conspiracy theories abounding regarding JJ's little flick to juice us up for his badass STAR TREK recreation. So JJ Abrams wrote me to give us all a clue, cuz we're at square one of this mystery! But note... the game sites apparently have nothing to do with JJ. And also... he seems to be stating that you guys have yet to find all the sites he's put up... and yes, you'll have to find them. The man is laughing at you, me and all of those hiding in the shadows. SO... find em if you can... let us know here at AICN... seems we have a scavanger hunt, ain't it cool?

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can't wait to talk to you more about it -- of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you'll know more than I will.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Stay cool the rest of the summer -- and thanks per usual for AICN!

JJ
