It was just cool.. Don't worry Rico I'm not giving up my DVD's but I like the feature of being able to watch or listen to anything from your ITunes.  An example.. I purchased the the pilot for Aquaman from Itunes.. I still haven't watched it because I don't like watching TV shows on my computer. I could convert the file to an MPG and then burn it to a DVD or if I had Apple TV I can just stream it to my TV and watch is without hassle. Also I really enjoy 'video' podcasts and I think it's cool that you can watch them on your TV.  Again with movie trailers that you normally watch on your small computer screen can now be seen on your larger TV screen.  I will never stop buying DVD's but I do like the idea of the Apple TV.

...and if you could rent an HD version of a film on iTunes, wouldn't it be cool to stream from your HD to your TV? If you could buy the same and be able to stream it or burn it to DVD, wouldn't that be a cool option as well?

Geekyfanboy

First let me say that I'm not an HD snob.. I don't have an HD TV, but do plan on getting one this year. I like the idea of being able to rent a movie from Itunes and then watch it on your HD TV. I would not buy a movie from Itunes if I wanted to keep it. I like having the physical DVD in hand. But as a rental program I think it's pretty cool.

I think there will be a point in the not too distant future where digital media will eclipse the physical version, unfortunatley. It's a lot more cost effective for a film studio or a service like iTunes to deliver a digital content instead of a physical DVD and companies will always gravitate to the more cost effective option as long as the delivery system is there as well as consumer acceptence. I mean, I used to buy CD's of music....I haven't done that in years, it's all digital.

Geekyfanboy

I actually like that idea.. I mean I like having the physical DVD or CD but it is alot easier to access a digital version of the product. The only reason I don't see this becoming the "norm" is because electrical devices, like a hard drives can falter. You will always want a physical back up of the movie or music. I know you will say.. "well people can burn Cd's or DVD's as back up"  and though this true, I would bet at least 50% of the people who own computers don't have a clue how to go about doing this.  I don't see DVD's or CD going away anytime soon.... just my opinion.

Rico

I do like some things about Apple TV but it needs to do more.  I'll tell you, if it could record I would of bought one by now.  Seems just a bit pricey for just basically a player.  When Steve/Bryan adds a bigger hard drive and a tuner I'm all over it!

Bryancd

We...I mean he's woking on it ;).

DVR capability is 100% in the cards for the product. It's a natural fit and although the comapny is tight lipped on new products, my analysts thinks we will see that within the next year.
