Here's a list of my favorite top five games of all time along with a few reasons why.  I think figuring out your top 5 games is easier than figuring out your top 10.

1. Battlefield 1942 (PC)--capture and hold Conquest mode, the huge number of vehicles, planes and ships available; quirky little things you could do like hitch a ride on the wing of a B-17 bomber or every guy having a parachute and being able to use as many times as he wanted.

2. Tribes 2 (PC)--using your jetpack to not only briefly fly, but also to "ski" down a hill; the huge outdoor maps; the many cool reconfigurable weapons and backpack configurations such as the cloak pack and the "assasination from behind" shocklace.

3. Total Annahilation (PC)--the Commander; the first 3-D RTS; the fantastic orchestral music.

4. Quake (PC)--the rocket jump; being able to use the axe as a grappling hook online; getting the damage rune and blowing enemies to pieces

5. Super Mario Kart (Super NES)--2 player Mario Kart GP mode; Battle mode; taunting your enemies as you pass them.

Tough question.  Here goes:

Everquest:  I played this game for years and only WOW could pull me away.  I still miss it sometimes.

XWing/Tie Fighter:  Loved these space sims.  Wish they would do another with modern graphic power!

World of Warcraft:  Best MMO ever - at least to me.

Starcraft:  Best RTS ever!

Diablo:  Man, when this game came out - just played and played it.

A few runner up's:
Dark Forces, DOOM, Baldur's Gate, Star Trek 25th Anniv., Wing Commander series

Picard_delta_5

KOTOR 1

Battlefront 2

Gears of War

Prince of Persia 3D (idk if its one of my top 5 but it's a great game... its an old PC game from 1999)

I would say Bridge commander, but I don't want to add another trek game... so I'll go with Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

Oh, and I love Armada 1
Star Trek Will Rise Again

World of Warcraft: The only known cure to the bad taste in one's mouth left over from playing SWG

Super Mario World: Best platform game ever, all others are only ever AS good, never better.

Starcraft: It is indeed the best ever RTS, it's an RTS with an amazing plot & storyline, I just love it.

Civilisation IV: The version of this game (past 2) doesn't matter so much as the game itself (the later versions just make it prettier really) but this game has the ability for me to sit down to play on a Friday, blink then it be Sunday evening all of a sudden.

The Sims 2: Another game with time altering powers. Sit down for a 5 minute game when you come home from work and just watch it be midnight before you realize it!

This will date me.

Spacequest 1-6- I liked two the best.
Rebel Assault (just because when it came out.. well, it rocked)
Star Trek 25th Anniversary
Star Trek TNG (Sega)
Star Trek Final Unity

Oh man, I haven't had the time to play anything in years.   Oh well, maybe someday.

Spacequest.. ah, the fond memories of radio shack tandy computers and the classic vga monitors....

I have been and always will be, your friend.

I'd also have to mention Battlefield: Vietnam, a sequel to PepperDude's Battlefield 1942.  A few years ago I was  away for a few months on business.  My coworkers and I spent most of our free time playing the game, and it was great fun.  We also had Star Wars: Battlefront with us, but, though the setting was obviously more fun, the gameplay of Vietnam was much better.

Back in college, I wasted many a night playing X-Wing.  I'd love to see that game updated with current graphics and including PT fighters.
