Character History

Brex is the son of the Chief Counselor Margon. As Margon stated Brex’s mothers died when he was young. After his father left to join Starfleet, Brex wanted to leave his grandfather and join Starfleet a weapons officer, but he didn’t go well in the Academy, so he went to his fallback, a bar tender/chef. He did not tell his father about joining Starfleet. He has just found out that his first Starship Assignment is aboard the USS ___________ the same ship as his father serves on! He has not run into him yet… and he has not spoken to his father in a long time. He knows that his father will be reading the ship manifest, and services records, of all the new crewmates on board. It’s only a matter of time before he faces his father. Brex has not undergone memory enhancement, and is quite upset with his father for doing so, he feels that his father intentionally forgotten his mother. Now he serves drinks, and aspires someday to become a weapons officer of a Starship. He also doen't believe in Synthahol products. He works with it anyway because it is protocal.

I like it.. questions though... is he a civilian working for Starfleet as a Bartender or is he an officer working as a bartender?

Four Lights

He is not an officer... he wants to be though. He just couldn't make it through the Academy.

You will have no fear of running a pure synthohol bar  my dear Braxo.

Moto has excellent connection with Kringon  merchants in the sector, and Sake falls under starfleet regurations as an "necessary material used in shinto religious observances". Not to mention the occasional case of Sapporro I when I can make the right trades."

also in his life he got into some dealings with the Orion Syndicate. StarFleet doesn't know that though... he worked in some undercover trades and such. He nearly died many times.

The Orion Syndicate is a criminal cabal created by the Orions. The Syndicate had been established by the 22nd century, and by the time of the 24th century it was an organized crime cartel, the equivalent of an interstellar mafia. The Syndicate from its inception included among its principal activities smuggling, piracy, slave trading, and assassination.

During the 22nd century, the Orion Syndicate was a somewhat more hegemonic organisation, that controlled space neighboring the Klingon Empire, near the Briar Patch, and heavily patrolled by the area of space known as the Borderland, often abducting crew members of alien ships for the slave trade. (ENT: "Borderland")

In "Bound", it was insinuated that the female members of the Orion species ran the Syndicate through a mind controlling pheromone. It can be assumed that this aided their expansion as it was demonstrated to work on non-Orion species. This would seem to indicate a matriarchal system; however, it may be decentralized.

By the 24th century, the Orion Syndicate was purely a criminal organization without political corporation, becoming an interstellar mafia operating within the borders of the United Federation of Planets. Syndicate members from species as diverse as Humans, Bolians, Ferengi and Farians maintain influence on several independent worlds like New Sydney and Farius Prime. The Syndicate even had operatives on Earth and, for a time, in Starfleet. (DS9: "Honor Among Thieves")

In 2374, the Syndicate was contacted by the Dominion during an attempt to destabilize the Klingon-Federation Alliance, during the Dominion War. (DS9: "Honor Among Thieves")

If a member of the Syndicate is killed, the Syndicate looks after the deceased member's family. The Syndicate took care of Morica Bilby by forcing the Tigan family to pay her money from their pergium business. (DS9: "Prodigal Daughter")
