"Rendezvous with Rama" by Arthur C. Clarke.
Any Dragonrider/Pern book by Anne McCaffrey.

Rama would be great!  Liebowitz as well.  I have always wanted to see any of the 'Stainless Steel Rat' series made into a story also:
Humanoids            Jack Williamson
Ringworld              Larry Niven
Mote in God's Eye   Niven & Pournelle

another one i would to see is a PLANET OF THE APES closer to the original books, i love the movies, but i have read the book, i think that version would be awesome to see.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see an ongoing series from HBO (a la Tales From the Crypt) that covers all or many of the short stories in the "Essential Ellison" omnibus.  Why hasn't more of his fiction been adapted?

Pern!  I am surprised this hasn't happened, especially with the popularity of Game of Thrones.  An ongoing series featuring dragons seems like it would be a no-brainer right now.  Showtime, listening?

Yes, Pern! I think the technology is good enough now to realize those books in film.

Maybe everyone's afraid to work with him, he is quite a cantankerous fellow.  ;)

Pern has been optioned a number of times over the years.  It has all the elements to make a great movie(s) - or mini-series.  I'd love to see someone tackle this for cable after "Game of Thrones" ends.

Off topic but my sister went on a date with Ellison back in the late 70's.  :)  She didn't care too much for him.

What a shock Pete! He seems like such an easy going guy! ;)
Conceited &$%#!  was the term I think..  ;)
I love his works though.  I have an tape audio book of him reading his own 'Boy And His Dog' - which is really incredible.

Lots of good ideas. I would watch most of them if they come out.
