I'm in the ChrisMC book club...just finished the two Dances With Wolves books...the first was practically identical to the film, almost like a novelization of the movie, even though I know the book came first.  The second, The Holy Road, was terrific, though, I really enjoyed the follow up and continuation of the story, even though it's an extremely depressing ending, of course.  Spoilers for American history!!!  The Native Americans lose...:(

Now I'm starting the latest Stephen King, Joyland, which is short so I should blow through it in a day or two.  Keep the suggestions coming Chris!

"B5 at 20"
A big hardcover coffee table style book that celebrates the 20th anniversary of Babylon 5.
Full-page glossy photos and art... it weighs in at 7 lbs!

I just finished "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. It's a great mystery/horror novel. It's Bram Stoker's Dracula with a side of true history and slice of whodunit.  I was a little confused by the cliff hanger ending, but over all I really loved the way Kostova spun this tale. There wasn't a lot of things I object to in her story (gore/gratuitous sex or violence), yet I still found it creepy as heck and couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend this book.

I just finished Joyland last night, Joby. I have to admit I rolled a tear at the end. It's a very touching story. Glad you read the Holy Road, it IS depressing, but it's setting allows for nothing else. Knowing alot of the history of that era I thought it was pretty spot on.

I'm going to re-read Hyperion by Dan Simmons, if you read thoughtful sci-fi and haven't read it, it's a sin. It's a weird, wonderful book. Also reading Pat Garret's "The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid" on my Kindle. Taken with a grain of salt, it's pretty interesting.

Chris - I agree that Hyperion is a fun read. However, I never read any of the other books in the series. I don't know if they are good or not but I might try reading the next one and see.

Currently I'm reading Christopher L. Bennett's new Enterprise book called "A choice of Futures". It takes place about a year after the last ENT book, which was one of the Romulan War books. He is taking on the task of writing about the beginnings of the Federation and is doing a really fine job. This is one of the best Trek books I have read in a while. Enterprise is my least favorite series and the post ENT books have been a little disappointing until now. Apparently the pre-sales on this were strong enough for him to land a contract on a second book, which comes out early next year.

I'm reading the latest Dan Brown book titled "Inferno" right now.  Robert Langdon is in some trouble again.

Read the second graphic novel from the Birds of Prey series. It was a good book, read it pretty quickly. I like the mix of characters in this series. The team is Black Canary, Batgirl, Katana, Poison Ivy & Starling who I didn't know. After reading this 2nd volume it looks like there will be some changes to the team.
Birds of Prey - Vol.2: Your Kiss Might Kill - 8.
I have the new Uncanny Avengers Vol. 1 to read and I am looking foward to checking it out.

Just finished Uncanny Avengers 1 - The Red Shadow graphic novel last night. It was ok. Didn't like some of what was going on in the book.
Did get 2 other Marvel Now graphic novels from the library today. They are Avengers and Indestructible Hulk. Both vol. 1.

Currently in the middle of Batman vol.1 The Court of Owls. I'm liking it so far.

Just started the latest STAR WARS novel "Crucible".

I just saw that at the library. I don't have a bookstore in town anymore to see it at. How is it so far?

Just finished Indestructible Hulk Vol. 1 - Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I really liked this and really liked what Banner did to go in a different direction. Well done and worth a read.

Right you are. That comic was awesome and a couple chapters into Destiny I'm loving it. Threads from all the tv series, how cool.

Destiny has universe changing stuff in it. After you finish that, you should check out Mack's latest, the "Cold Equations" trilogy. Probably some of the best Trek on page in a while.

Just got Nightwing Vol. 2 Night of the Owls today. I am really liking this Court of Owls that Snyder came up with. Cool part of Gotham's history.

Will do, finding destiny to be a real page-turner.
Oh, I GOTS to read me some vol.2 soon. BTW, both Snyder and Capullo have been interviewed about Court of Owls on Kevin Smith's podcast "Fat Man on Batman". AWESOME interviews, I recommend.
