This week I've been listening to "It" on audiobook while working. So fantastic. Creepy fun and insightful characterization that rings true. I love me some SK!
Cannot WAIT for the sequel to the Shining, Dr. Sleep, which hits in September I believe.  That will be AWESOME!!!

Oh sweet, I was unaware of that! woohoo! I LOVE The Shining (book).   :thumbsup
Have you read the new Dark Tower book? What did you think?
And how about 11/22/63? I thought it was awesome.
11/22/63 is my favorite SK book in many years, maybe decades.  I've read everything, but this story was just miles away from anything else in recent memory.  I was pretty bummed by the whole way the Dark Tower turned out, it was so obviously rushed toward the end that the last three books just didn't compare to the first four.  The recent stand alone book was okay but forgettable, I can't even remember the title right now.  I'm a huge fan of his collaborations with Peter Straub, especially the first one, Talisman.  There's been a rumored sequel for years now, I hope it turns out to be true.
I agree, '63 was his best book since....I don't know, Drawing of the Three maybe. Lots of heart, great concept.

I just finished reading the TNG series Cold Equations by David Mack. Excellent, best Trek in A LONG time. Changes some stuff.

Yeah! I've used 11/22/63 to convert people into SK fans. So good.
I've been meaning to read Talisman. It sounds great.
I agree that the new DT book was a bit forgettable...fun little tale but forgettable. I did like the entire previous run though, not disappointed with the end (my dad shares your opinion, I can see the reasons). For me the apex was book 4, fantastic.

Ded-a-chek? Dad-a-chum? :) This DT talk is gettin me in the mood.
Thanks for mentioning Cold Equations. Just looked it up, lots of good reviews. I read some of the tng books back in the day (vendetta, imzadi, q-squared) and have been wanting to get back into something good. I'm definitely going to read this soon. Can't wait.

You should check out the various Dark Tower comic series if you havent yet, they're really pretty good.  Of course not really comparable to actual Stephen King but they do a good job for the most part.

And it's funny he three ST books you mentioned there are probably my three favorites of them all!  Anybody heard how Peter David is faring? Hearing about Cold Equations makes me want to catch up on the TNG relaunch books I've missed.  I never finished Before Dishonor and I know quite a bit has happened in the TNG universe since then.

I read the first two collections and I LOVE Jae Lee's art. Wow. And the colorist.

Nice, yeah of those 3 mentioned, I think q-squared was my favorite. (If I'm remembering correctly) So clever (and funny) how it explains why the enterprise seemed to run into temporal anomalies wayyy too often :). Love it.

When my wife and I met Peter David we told him Q-squared was the best Trek novel EVER. He seemed pretty pleased by that. I also quite enjoyed his B5 books.

I would like to find the B5 books and read them. Wasn't there about 8 of those?
Just finished another grahic novel now I need to catch up on my magazines.
Earth 2 Vol. 1 - The Gathering - 6. It was ok but not enough of the big 3 on Earth 2. There was other parts I didn't care for but it did have really good art.

I'm on the last chapter of Wheel of Time: A Memory of Light. Loving it and sad all at the same time. How is that even possible? :(

I don't think that's so unusual. I'm often in the middle of several books. Currently I'm reading a classic sci-fi book by Eando Binder called "Secret of the Red Spot", a biography about early film star Claudette Colbert called "She Walked In Beauty", and the latest Star Trek book by Greg Cox called "The Weight of Worlds".

Thankfully the Greg Cox Trek entry is better than the last few TOS books have been this year but not by much. I'm seriously considering giving up collecting all the Trek books anymore, or at least the TOS line of them because the TOS books have been mostly poor to average where the other series have all had exceptional stories.

The "Secret of the Red Spot" is a fun is a fun little Space Opera book from 1971.

My favorite right now is the Colbert biography. She was a wonderful actress and an interesting person.

Just finished reading the Encyclopedia of Presidents - George Bush. This was a short book of about 100 pages but I do find them interesting. I like learning about some of the things they did before they became President. He was the 1st President I voted for. This one the wife bought me from ebay. I have a few more of the series and most of them I bought at a library book sale for 25 cents each.
Now going into my magazines, comics and then into a Captain America graphic novel.

well i have recently gotten a kindle, i love it.
for christmas, i asked for an amazon gift card and i got it. so i used to buy the whole collection of ian fleming's 007( the ones he wrote) i had of course heard of the books but never actually read any of them. man, he is a great writer. since those books were written in the 60's you get the feel of that period.
i finished CASINO ROYALE, and started THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.
i have always been a big fan of the movies. seeing how differences between the books and the movies are awesome to me.

I've enjoyed all of Fleming's books. They're fast quick reads and closer to pulp fiction style of writing but still fun. John Gardner's books are not too bad either. Especially Licensed Renewed, and For Special Service, but my favorite Bond books are the ones written by Raymond Benson. They are all good and each gets progressively better. I wish he was still writing Bond novels. The last two Bond books By Deaver and Faulks are not very good at all in my opinion. The lack of consistency and continuity is hurting the Bond series.

I just picked up Dan Brown's 'Inferno' - his latest Landgon novel.  Haven't started it yet - any one else read/reading it?
