Planet Hulk:The Movie??

The rumor mill is going that in Marvel's "Phase 3" there will another standalone Hulk movie will be based on "Planet Hulk". This was a huge story a few years ago, and in my opinion Hulk's best non-Peter David story. It's worth noting that "Planet Hulk" set up "World War Hulk", which was basically Hulk vs. The Marvel Universe. If that is what they are going to set up, it's gonna make 2012's Avengers look "puny".

I'm not sure they are going to go in this direction but I'm guessing they do have plans for the Hulk. After Avengers when they said there weren't any plans for more Hulk movies they got a negative response from fans and let's be honest the portrayal of Hulk/Banner was brilliant in Avengers.

They might/should skip the whole Planet Hulk deal and go right to World War Hulk as Avengers 2 or 3.

I think you need to know what happens in Planet Hulk that ends up causing World War Hulk.  Don't make Hulk angry!

I'll take any Hulk movie the want to put out! The Planet Hulk animated movie was pretty good.

I think you need to know what happens in Planet Hulk that ends up causing World War Hulk.  Don't make Hulk angry!

Yeah, to get Worldbreaker Hulk, you kind of need the events and loss that happened in Planet Hulk. I mean it would be easy to do, have Hulk shunted to another world in the climax of the next avengers movie. Then do planet hulk and have him return for the next avengers movie.

The only problem I see is the HUGE costs involved. According to the commentary track of Avengers, it was pretty costly to CGI the hulk and that limited his screen time. Imagine the cost when there are pretty much no humans on the planet and everyone is CGI to some extent. If you can get James Cameron to direct, it might be worth the risk, but you would need a director with both an eye for the cgi and the power to put butts into seats.

True and I agree that Planet Hulk would be too much CGI for a viable live action movie.  Also I don't remember Banner playing much if any of a role, and Ruffalo was one of the biggest reasons Hulk worked so well in the Avengers.

Another interesting direction could be one of the many times they have tried to cure Banner of the Hulk. Perhaps have a story from the comics where the two are physically split and a mindless Hulk goes on the rampage? Have Banner leading the Hulk Busters?
