Podcast # 421 - "Man From Atlantis"

This week I finally do a whole podcast on one of my favorite, older Sci-Fi series from way back in the late 70's - "Man From Atlantis." This cult favorite is now finally out on DVD and I cover the show this week with a lot of audio clips, info, music & more. I also talk a little on Trek and Star Wars as well as some other geeky topics. So, I hope everyone enjoys this week's show!

I think the 4 TV movies they did are really good. The series ended up being a bit hit or miss as far as the stories. But I still love this show quite a bit.

Oddly enough I've never seen this yet I've always been aware of it. I'm starting to think I must have watched it through then simply forgotten about it. Given when it was on, though, I think that's unlikely as I would have been old enough to remember it.

Some of the plots sound a bit ropey so I think I see why it didn't come back but I wonder if I ought to look it out (once I've finished my original Battlestar reruns).

Rico, what a great podcast, one that brought back a few buried childhood memories! I remembered the theme, something I had never forgotten, and I remember watching a few of them on TV at the time (I don't remember any details of the episodes.

I do remember arguing with my younger brother about one of us wanted to watch Doctor Who, the other The Man from Atlantis, but it was a show that all my schoolmates watched...it was very popular over here! Another memory from the time is me remembering that Batman's King Tut was in it.

Thanks to your podcast I am interested in seeing the show again! :)

Hi Rico, I just listened to the podcast Friday night. great podcast! I loved watching this show when I was a kid. it was one of my faves. I hated it when the network canceled the series. I remember watching some of the episode's when it first aired and the pilot eps as well. I did re watch all of the pilot eps on geekplay TV. I watched some of the eps but had some tech difficulties on one of the eps. What happen to the site? Did you have to take it down?

Glad you liked the podcast. I decided on my own to take geekplay.tv down. The funny thing was most of the shows I put up on there have now come out on DVD. So I didn't see the need to keep it going. The Atlantis DVD's are much better than the old VHS copies I had. So glad it finally came out on DVD.

OK I see Rico, Thanks for posting geekplay TV when you did. I was able to watch Logans Run over again and yes quality was an issue too. I am sure the DVDs are great to have.
