The Oscar nominations came out today for the best films of 2012, and I'd like to propose our third(?) annual contest for picking the winners this year.  If Rico doesn't mind I'd be happy to give him a break and offer the prize this year: For the person whose picks are the most similar to the Academy voters, I'd like to offer a DVD or Blu-ray copy of one of the nominated films of the winner's choice.  I'm going to throw caution to the wind and open the contest up to everyone who wants to participate this year, since I seem to recall our British compatriots were a little bummed they couldn't participate last year.

Here's the nominees included in the contest, just pick who you think will win in the categories listed below and post them in this thread.  If there's a tie we'll work out the tie breaker in a fair, random way.

Well, at least I have seen "Beasts of the Southern Wild". It wasn't really THAT good, IMO.

Bromptonboy

I loved Lincoln - hope that wins.

Rico

YES!  I have seen exactly zero of the Best Picture nominees!
I heard there is a lot of controversy over some of the over-looked folks this year - especially in the directing category.

P.S.  Joby - feel free to roll with your contest.

#4
I've seen four of the nine best pic nominees:  Argo, Django, Zero Dark Thirty, and Lincoln.  Also seen Wreck It Ralph, Brave, and Paranorman in the animated category, Hobbit, Prometheus, Avengers, and Snow White in visual effects, and Flight in its various categories.

Also, just to clarify, you don't have to have seen all the pics to play...for the purposes of the contest you're just guessing who you think will win, not who you think should win.  Guess away and win a free movie!
