Amy and I went to see this late last night.  We were the only ones in the theater and when we left at 11:30 pm we were the only car in the parking lot!  LOL!  It was sure different than I expected.
From all the hype I thought we were getting a way more gadget orientated show.  It had its moments.  The villain was really different to me.  He wasn't what I wanted.  He was crazy enough but felt soft to me.  I really enjoyed seeing the homestead and well there was enough explosions to satisfy the 11 year old in me...   Didn't like Q at all..   What kind of a computer genius hooks up an evil villain's computer to the network?  uh.... duh.  I expected him to break out in a Monkey's or Beatles song at any moment.   Exploding pens no more?  Bummer.  I love exploding pens.

Ok, the scene where he opens the garage and the old car is there.... THAT WAS AWESOME!  Especialy the ejection gear shift.  hehehehehe.

I left satisfied and hoping that they take it more this direction with the next films.  I'm kind of surprised I got Amy to go with me, she of course didn't like it at all.  But then she loved Breaking Dawn 2.  That says something.  LOL.
I have been and always will be, your friend.

I'll never understand Twilight's appeal, Rick. At least to adults.

Bryan.....as you know  my wife is from Glasgow and the best part of the movie for her was when that old guy said "Welcome to Scotland" there was allot of dull moments.... it started out great lots of action but it fell short. I can go on and on.... expected more. The theater was packed and we heard comment's like come on kill that guy and end this bloody movie!
i don't wanna spoil it for anyone.... hit me up and we can talk about it. :)

At least I'm not alone in my opinion on this film! I think that Barbara Broccoli sold out the franchise on this one. When the critics say "James Bond is back!" we had no idea they meant a step back!

I would agree parts were slow, although the same could be said for Casino Royale and yet that seems to receive nearly universal praise. I would agree it was too long, they could have tightened it up by a good 10min.

Rico

I think the pace of the film and some of the "slow" parts was very intentional.  It was meant to reflect what Bond was going through.  It starts out all action and then after what happens to Bond early on it has to slow down - Bond is not sure what he wants to do next.  I found the film very refreshing and real.  This wasn't meant to be the same Bond or the same type of Bond film as the last two.  Anyway, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

ChrisMC

I didn't mind the "slow" parts. This movie and Casino Royale in particular were about the Bond character and building that, instead of being just about teh situation Bond was in. This approach is more interesting to me.

Well you can't please everyone and to be fair its a very small minority who have not enjoyed it. Having examined every Bond film and also enjoyed some (have to admit I have not read them all) of the books including the one by Sebastian Faulks I think this is the way forward for Bond. So it has slow parts, it should do, its building the drama to the end segment. I think people are going to constantly want a Casino Royale, well its not going to happen, the franchise would end up being boring. Its a 50th anniversary and it had some obvious nods to the past series and for me the whole film is built to give you that last scene in the office.
The whole argument of "where did he get the DB5 from" urks me, well he won it in Casino Royale, he then went and got it done up, went on the goldfinger mission and then hid it once he got it back . far fetched?? maybe buts its a film.

Looking forward to seeing it again, either back at the cinema and then on Blue-ray.

Actually Meds I think they could have pleased both fans of the Craig films and the older films even staying in line with the new continuity. To disregard what was developed in Casino Royale and Quantum was a mistake. I mean we already had the past agent gone bad thing in Goldeneye right? Why not have had Silva be Blofeld instead and brought Mr. White in to give it continuity and connect it to the last two films? It would have been so simple to do. The Q character is beyond absurd as well. It would have been very easy to have connected the film without doing the film any damage and it still would have been quite popular and you and I both would have been happy. To reboot the reboot is just absurd to me. Especially when there was nothing wrong with the reboot. Yea Quantum may not have been as good as Casino Royale but they could have easily fixed that with this film without trashing what they did in the last two.

I agree on the Blofeld, that actually would have been a nice move. I disagree with what you say on Q, unless you mean his silly mistake of connecting the laptop up to his main frame yeah silly move but as a character I think it's pretty realistic. The majority of new employees to SIS are graduates and they are pretty much like the Q on screen lol.
