According to Latino review, they have an exclusive that Marvel's OTHER movie in 2014 (Cap 2 being the first) will be the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. I am excited, I absolutely love Marvel's outer space adventures...and with Thanos being featured in the first post-credits scene in Avengers it makes sense. Can't wait, hope it makes Green Lantern look like a pile of puke!

Also, here's an Amazon link if you want to bone up.

I think that this might be about the new guardians of the galaxy.

ChrisMC

Yeah, I know. I like old school comic covers. I'm old.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are in the current issue of Avengers Assemble. They will also be in issue #6. I don't know beyond issue #6.

Some of you may be interested in this. Chris Pratt from Zero Dark Thirty to lead the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Looks like casting has started.  Actor Chris Pratt will be playing the team's leader...

James Gunn and Marvel Studios have finally found their Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) – Chris Pratt (Parks & Recreation, Zero Dark Thirty)!

Yesterday it was announcement that Pratt would portray Quill in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy film. The character, a half-alien ex-astronaut, is the leader of the titular Guardians. His powers (telepathic link with a spaceship, to name one) were given to him by a being called the Master of the Sun. Expect at least one joke to be made in the film version regarding how easy a mind-to-vehicle link makes parking. Before Pratt, the following actors were considered for the role: Joel Egerton (another Zero Dark Thirty alumnus), Jim Sturgess (Across The Universe), Lee Pace (Pushing Daises), and Zachary Levi (Chuck). Pretty much every working actor between 25-25, too.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be the third entry in Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; it will be released on August 1, 2014. The internet has been all abuzz this week about the possibility of the forthcoming films setting up the "Planet Hulk" storyline from the comics. In it, Bruce Banner/Hulk is banished to another planet by Marvel's Illuminati due to how dangerous he had become. It's a pretty sweet arc that would definitely work well on film.

What do you think of Pratt as Peter Quill?

Weird, I'm not familiar with these characters at all!  Except Galactus of course...

I'm not sure why but I get a sense of the first "whiff" from Marvel's movie machine that's been churning out hit after hit.  Rocket Raccoon?  Really?

I see a bit of what you mean.  The Guardians is going to be a tricky thing to pull off.  But I have faith in the Disney/Marvel team at this point.

I'm loving the new Guardians comics. If they follow that model, I think it could be a fun movie.

I find it weird I've never even heard of this comic and I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about the Marvel universe.  It sort of feels like I'm in an alternate quantum reality (like my favorite Trek episode Parralels) where things are mostly the same but just a little bit different or off...
