The rumors are true:  WoW's fourth expansion is titled the Mists of Pandaria and will debut the Pandarin, originally an April Fools joke as a new playable race available to both Horde and Alliance.  Additionally, there will be a new character class, the Monk, who will be able to function as a healer, DPS, or Tank (similar to the Druid apparently).  The level cap is going up another 5 levels to 90.  A few new features were discussed including challenge mode dungeons, PVE "Scenarios", a Pet battle system, and changes to the talent system.  This is sure to excite many and cause much rumors and speculation across the interwebs.  Who's excited?

Pretty much predicted.  The best kept "non-secret" in gaming lately.  Joby are you even playing WOW anymore?

Nope I got frustrated with raiding and quit.  I pretty much hated being a healer and it the only way I could get in a raid was to level my Priest.  But I will play for a couple months to see the new content and level my two guys to 90 whenever this comes out.

Very cool, interested to see what everything looks like!

Working on downloading the beta right now.  Probably play some later on today after I get back from the movies.

Well, I managed to make a panda monk on the beta test server, but it's so overloaded and laggy I just left.  Tons of pandas trying to get the initial quests.

I missed the hoopla but apparently this is on track for a 9/25 release, and details have been announced for the collectors edition bonuses for both the standard and digital sets:

Blizzard offers digital perks for Mists of Pandaria downloaders

September 25 release shows increasing importance of digital distribution.

When Blizzard launches its fourth World of Warcraft expansion, the panda-themed Mists of Pandaria, on September 25, it will be putting another nail in the coffin of retail-based game distribution.

In addition to a standard digital edition, offered at a same-as-retail $39.99 price point, Mists of Pandaria will be the first WoW expansion to also come in a $59.99 Digital Deluxe edition, which includes the kinds of in-game perks that were previously only available in the retail Collector's Editions. The Digital Deluxe download will come with a flying mount, a Lucky Quilen Cub pet, exclusive portraits for use in Starcraft II, and banner sigils for use in Diablo III. Standard edition downloaders will also be able to obtain these perks later for an additional $20 purchase.

Blizzard isn't totally abandoning fancy retail packages. The $79.99 retail Collector's Edition of Mists of Pandaria will also include a behind-the-scenes DVD and Blu-ray, a soundtrack CD, a collectible art book, and a mouse pad, as well as the in-game perks. But by offering the coveted, exclusive virtual items to downloaders at a price point lower than the retail Collector's Edition, the company seems to be acknowledging that some of its most devoted players no longer want to be weighed down with physical products to play an online game.

Put me down for one, retail Collector's Edition!  :)

Good grief, that is quite the collector edition right there! Looks like your getting your moneys worth at any rate. Although I'm surprised, didn't they used to come with some sort of physical collectible? Or am I thinking of a different company...

Hey!  I got a invite to the beta test tonight, if it's real I might give it a try and see how it goes. Can you use your existing toons or do you have to build a new character?

edit to add:  BAH!  It was a phishing scam, not a real invite.  Oh well.
