Did another look at a year in the past and the cool genre movies and TV from 1985.  Got some comments from you guys, a new contest, and even a quick collectible review too.  Enjoy the podcast!

Love this one, the 80's were a great time for tv and movies.

Just a minor correction, Rick referred to Bryan Adams as the "all American boy", he is in fact Canadian :)

I knew that in the back of my mind!  got to see him open for journey back in 83/84.  Great performer! Sorry I didn't give you Northerners credit! Lol!  I'm going to see Styx in concert on Thursday.  Pretty excited!

I have been and always will be, your friend.

Rick! We had a Bicentennial celebration back in 2002 in Downtown Newark, Ohio and we had Styx perform. They were playing on one of our downtown streets which is only about 5 minutes from my house and it was an awesome show!!! They were great. Plus there was a fireworks show after the concert and I dont think they relized how close they set them off to everybody. I actually had ash falling on me! I know that was almost 10 years ago but it was so cool! You are in for a treat!

HI Rico, I just listened to the podcat last night at work.  great podcast.   1985 was a big year for me.  that was the year I graduated High School and started college, I even stated my first part time job in the summer.  I do remember most of the shows you mention in the podcast and some I didn't know about.  I have never seen an episode of the Misfits of Science, but I had heard about it form the podcast.  However some of the shows I was into at the time were the origanal V series, Otherworld, and I was watching reruns of the classic Dr. Who series on the local PBS station.  I did watch a few of the Amazing Stories episodes from time to time.  I would see Back to the Future latter after the sequels were maid, but I did see the Goonies when it was first released that summer.
I am going with the best information that I have.

Rico, thanks for doing this podcast!  You and I share VERY similar tastes in TV and movies (except that I, like Kenny, LOVED the "V" miniseries and TV show).  Every show you mentioned was a favorite of mine: Misfits of Science, Back to the Future, Goonies, Cocoon, Enemy:Mine!  I also loved MacGyver, D.A.R.Y.L. and Teen Wolf too.

And I will just say that LadyHawke has a special place in my heart.  I remember going to see it in an old-style stage theater  that was converted into a dinner-and-movie place with circular tables, comfy chairs, and a restaurant ambiance.  You went there for nice dinner, and then about halfway through the meal, the movie would start (and you ate dessert as the movie ran).  The best movie experience ever.

The music score was amazing as was the cinematography.  I throught the story was great and Matthew Broderick was excelllent as Phillippe.  When you decide to do a podcast on this movie, let me know.  It might be a good 'companion-cast' (we haven't done one of those since you left Rockford).

One personal note on 1985:  My Dad, Bob Peete, is a TV/movie writer (now retired) and was the producer of the show "What's Happening Now!" that premiered that year and ran for 3 years.  Kinda cool.

Anyway, Thanks again for keeping TSF going strong! :)
