It's an indie game that looks like an RTS but plays more like a deep Tower Defense.  Has upgradable ships etc, lots of attention to detail.  You have an equip & planning stage where you hand out orders, then you hit the play button and watch the battle unfold.

Fun stuff - I brought it at the end of last year and had a blast with it.  Perhaps some of you were lucky enough to get it in one of the humble bundles when it was dirt cheap.

Anyway there is a demo for PC & Mac - if you buy direct from the author it is DRM free and all that.  There is a steam version too.

I got this game with the Humble Indie Bundle.  Its pretty much a set-the-board and then press go and sit back game, BUT, its a good game to get from what I've played so far.  Very very very geeky kind of game.  :)

Very true :0)  The fact you can zoom in to the ships and see exactly *where* your shields, guns and missiles are and that placement actually makes some kind of difference (rather than just a stat) means you can spend tons of time just on ship design.

The ship building is a bit like a more constrained Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (EDIT: about 1:52 in starts talking about that system can't seem to do the time index trick on the forum) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxxortEBb8c#t=1m52
(If you have a 360 and like(d) building Lego vehicles - I bet you could pick this gem up pretty cheap now)
