Looks like PS3 owners in the UK will be able to download an app that will allow Netflix streaming sometime soon.  Click for the full story:

Yep been looking forward to this for a while now. Don't have a ps3 so I'll be needing the XBMC or Windows Media Center app to be compatible with UK accounts. :)

I very good chance unless they have made a deal with LoveFilm :(

So Netflix UK launched today with a 30 day free trial and priced at £5.99 per month for unlimited streaming.

LoveFilm responding by reducing there monthly unlimited streaming to £4.99! Now I'm not LoveFilm fan, they have less content than Netflix (and looking at the initial start up content in the UK thats saying something!) and all the good stuff is extra on pay per view.

Well I've joined Netflix on the trial. Some good kids content which will be handy having 2 iPhones and and iPad in the house and it looks like it is now supported on all the major console platforms and I think the Apple TV. Looking at it though it does seem to be about 10% of choice compared to the US version like I predicted but I'm confident we will see this increase, especially since we have competition from LoveFilm over here.

As i dont currently own any consoles or an Apple TV I'm waiting for the XBMC add on to get updated to support UK accounts so I can watch it on my HTPCs using my remote and not having to drop into a web browser. I won't hold my breath that the official Windows Media Center addin will be updated as they haven't even bother to update it to work with Canadian accounts! :(

Are they offering a physical disc option too?

Feathers

I've seen they have an iPhone app so perhaps I need to look into this.

LoveFilm on the XBox is my other streaming option but as I'm not an XBox Gold member (and don't intend to be) that adds up to in excess of £10 per month.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Nope, streaming only.

Kids love it so far but I'm waiting for the content to arrive :)

Pretty handy in my household with to iPhones and an iPad.

Yep Xbox live gold is a pain if you don't game. Just wAiting on the HTPC options (probably just going to be XBMC ) personally.

Is the selection really as poor as it appears to be at the moment (i.e. one screen of titles in each category) or am I missing something?

Is this on the iPad GUI? No you scroll along to see more titles but it isn't that extensive.

Feathers

No. iPhone web interface.

Don't want to use up a free trial if there's nothing on there I want to watch!

Ah I dont think you can browse the entire catalogue without signing up Mike, that might be it.

I'll make a decision at the end of the trial on whether I'll keep this going. I have a few issues. I need to have a proper htpc plugin for it, browsing a website will not do. The other problem is the issues Silverlight has with hardware acceleration and Atom / ion2 pcs (which I use as my HTPCs) meaning HD just won't work for me.

Rico

I still can't see how you guys watch anything of length on a phone.  The iPad seems small to me at times, but I'll watch a TV show on there.  Movies almost always go on the big screen HDTV.
