Sounds great Joby.  Looking forward to giving it a go.

I haven't run into many bugs so far but there's been some weird behavior, like corpses dancing, and sticky geometry, nothing too bad.

I'm hearing a lot of reports of game crashing, bad UI decisions and a lot of bugs.  One friend said it was like getting cut by a 1000 paper cuts.  also some questionable graphics in certain places of the game.

Apparently the game is decent...but I'm not daring to try it.  Knowing my luck I'll get 10,000 bugs.

Looks like there's a TNG fan on the development team of Skyrim!  I ran into a NPC named Temba Wide-Arm...I don't think anyone besides us and a few other hardcore Trekkies would get that reference, pretty cool I think.

I'm two weeks in to the game and I have to say, it's the absolute best fantasy style single player role playing game I've ever played.  There's so much to do, so much to see.  Like I said, I've been playing pretty regularly for the past two weeks now, and of the 8 or so major cities (read: quest hubs) I've been to one of them.  The rest of the time I spent completing the Mage College questline, seeking out Words of Power, killing random dragons which appear frequently, completing miscelaneous quests (they call these radiant quests) which, while at the core are basically fetch quests, they take you to amazing, interesting, locations and everthing you do seems to open up five more things to do next.  It's absolutely incredible.  I am sure I will be playing this game well into next year.

Joby, are you playing on PC or a console? I'm getting interested and might do this at Christmas. Just not sure my PC will be able to handle it!

I'm playing the 360 version.  I heard that the PS3 has some framerate issues, and if you think you can play it on PC then I would definitely pick that version because you have access to the massive mod community that is already supporting the game on PC.  Also clearly, the visuals and load times are supposed to be much better on PC.

I found a "cider" port of the the PC version for Mac that I am considering giving a try just to see if I can run it and check out the differences.

Yeah I have 2 Radeon HD4850's in CrossFire so I figure I should be ok...tough call :)

The PC version doesn't need a lot of horsepower or video power.  It plays fine on my son's PC, which is 2-3 year old tech.

Yeah, my wife's been playing it on PC and it runs fine on my 2 year old comp.

This may be my favorite game in the last 10 years. I'm 40 hours in and have barely touched the main storyline. There's so much you can do, it's really a game that can be played the way you want to play it.

I don't play games but my friend talked me into playing a little of this. Spent about 20 minutes creating my character then another half hour running around. Couldn't get the hang of moving my head and running at the same time. But what little I did was fun.

first person games take some getting used to.  I think its one reason the Wii was so popular...the controls on the best games are easy and intuitive.  One neat thing about Skyrim is you have the choice to click the left joystick and the perspective zooms out to third person view.  It might be easier to control that way for you Kenny.  I think the combat might be harder though in third person.
