Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein.  This is supposed to be a classic, but it's definitely a slow starter.

Robert Heinlein's books take a little work but definitely worth the effort. It's been years since I read Stranger In  A Strange Land and so I don't know how well it holds up today, but in the 70s, when I was a teenager, it spoke to a whole generation. So it may be that now it needs to be read with some historical context.

I'm also reading a classic right now. I have never read Tarzan Of The Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs and am really enjoying it. I've seen all the Tarzan movies ever made and even the TV series but have never read any of the Tarzan series of books. Really good stuff and worth checking out. Kind of strange that I've never read these because I have enjoyed Burroughs Pellucidar series and his Mars series.

I read Stranger in a Strange land in high school and once since then, indeed a bit of a slow starter but fun overall. The one Heinlein book I can (and have) read over and over is Starship Troopers. An amazing book that is nothing like the crappy (but entertaining) Verhoven movie.

Come on Joe! That movie is awesome! It's tongue squarely implanted in cheek. "Would you like to know more?" ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love the movie! But it really is not very good, especially when compared to the amazing book. I want armor suits that look like mechanical gorillas! :)

Just read the entire house of night series. Damn you Amazon! The first book was three bucks and I thought my wife would like it. Ended up buying and reading the entire series over the course of five days.

...'Would you like to SEE more?' might be more apropos for that movie..  :)

I loved Starship Troopers in book and movie form.  I just think of them as two separate properties because the movie is so different in content and tone.

I've never read the Tarzan books, but I loved Burroughs John Carter from Mars series...  Incredible fun.

A very good book and an OK movie. (I saw it with my brother who hadn't read the book and neither of us got what we expected out of that film).

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I'm reading World War Z by Max Brooks. I haven't quite been able to get into it.

Turtlesrock, I also enjoyed the Star Trek: Crew series. I am now on the second story in "Myriad Universes - Echoes And Refractions" the second story is "A Gutted World" by Keith R.A. Candido and I do like it better than the 1st story "The Chimes at Midnight" by Geoff Trowbridge. The last story in the book is called "Brave New World" by Chris Roberson.
I finished the 1st season of DS9 and after I finish the Myriad book I'm going to read a DS9 book that takes place between season 1 and 2 called "Warchild" by Esther Friesner. It's #7 in the DS9 books and I never read this before. I don't think Friesner wrote any other Trek books.
