An E-X-C-E-L-E-N-T podcast episode! I heard it twice! Besides two factors that surely truly help it to be good - that music is much easier to include in a podcast than pictures or videos and that Zimmer's music is great - the way it was assembled, with Zimmer's own voice describing the work, was superb!

I love Hans Zimmer's style a lot. Very inspiring actually, and Hans (at least to me) has a very identifiable sound. Almost always uses that thrumming drum line! AWESOME!!

I like doing these type of deep dives on a composer since:

I have to bolster my collection to cover the period and breadth (a plus for me - I love this music)
I learn more about the composer by doing the research (which is fairly easy given the web these days, for most anyway), and
because I actually get to enjoy the final result of feeling like I appreciate the composer better by the time I am finished.

This one on Hans and the John Williams guestcast both took between 30-40 hours to prepare, so I take the "job" seriously enough to do a good effort so that you are given a true measure of the composer.  So thanks for the kind remarks and in another year I will do another one (assuming, gasp, that Rico is still producing)!  Hmm, should I do Jerry Goldsmith next?  Tyler?  Powell?  the list goes on!

I was fully absorbed in the presentation and learned some great knowledge on this prolific composer. Your love of music and appreciation for these composers really shows. So glad that you emerged to share this with us.

My first encounter with Hans Zimmer was in the Barbara Hershey film, "A World Apart". I went out and bought the soundtrack cassette right away. It is because of this film that I associated him as being adept with the African sound. After hearing the breadth of his work, it's apparent that he's just adept.

I know that a lot of work goes into somthing like this, but please do more of these. Thanks for enlightening us.

Thanks for doing this podcast Vartok, I had no idea some of the movies he had done or games for that matter.  Really appreciated the time and work you put into this podcast, Zimmer is one of my favorites just as much as John Williams is. 

My suggestion for your next show is Harry Gregson-Williams.  One of my favorites :).  Does all sorts of game and movie soundtracks and never fail to be great.  I'd be curious to hear more about him.
