Okay I've been out of it for a while I missed quite a few of the summer movies. But I'm hoping to catch up before they leave the theater so my question is which movies should I see in the theater and which ones can wait until DVD.

For June I saw X-Men First Class and Super 8 but missed Cars 2 and Green Lantern

For July I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, but missed Captain America, Transformers 3, Cowboys and Aliens, and The Smurfs

For August I missed Rise of the Planets of the Apes

So here is what is still playing in theaters around me.. what is your guys list of priority.

Cars (very limited)
Green Lantern (very limited)
Captain America
Cowboys and Aliens
Smurfs
Transformers 3 (very limited)

I vote Captain America first, then Cowboys and Aliens. The rest wait for DVD. On your list I have only seen Capt. America and Transformers.

Definitely Cap in my view.  Really loved that movie.

I watched X-Men first class tonight.  Long movie, but enjoyable.  I was about halfway through before I finally places Prof. X.  The lack of facial hair was throwing me.  James McAvoy from the first season of the brilliant UK series Shameless.  I think for me, even though I've heard some negative reviews from some of my friends, Captain America will be next.

He was also in the terrific, IMO, SciFi mini series of Children of DUNE.

McAvoy was in the first Narnia movie and the "Wanted" movie too.  He's done quite a bit actually.

Kenny - my other suggestion if you like westerns is go see "Cowboys & Aliens."  Also, if you like Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford.  Good team up!

I thought Smurfs was horrible, but the kids enjoyed it

I've never gotten in to the Narnia movies or Dune.

As long as you have HD, I'd wait for DVD/BluRay for Cars 2.  It was nice and all, but it doesn't require the "theatre" experience, kwim?

i agree.

when it comes to captain america, i'd recommend it. nice special effects and all.
slight spoilers ahead:
though my brother (who is a die-hard superhero fan) didn't like it, because it was about everything he already knew.
beware there is a major cliffhanger ending.
