Oh - I certainly wasn't assuming anything. I was just mentioning it since I know several people here have them. Obviously any computer can handle Skype (and have for years). I was just trying to give some other options.

The interesting thing is that there is no native Skype app for the iPad, just the iPhone version.

Yeah, but the same is true for other apps too. I think Hey Tell has only one version.

I was thinking video. I don't have a webcam. I have a couple of headsets with mic that I used on Yahoo. So I should be good to go. And I would just need to download skype. Rico, how soon do you need to know if I can do it??

Yeah just seems odd that such a major player doesn't have a native iPad version. I've seen some rumours it's coming.

Facebook also lacks a native iPad app too. A lot of the major players seem to be slow on adopting it, which is fairly curious considering how popular and how well sold the iPad has been...

Well I get it for FB, the site works just fine in Safari, whereas the SKype implementation is a bit lacking. anyways, looks like I'll be drving to the national park during the show so I don't think I'll be making this one.
