And for those who are new, here's a link to my 2009 thread about building the 1/350 Polar Lights movie Enterprise.

Dude, I know you have the spectacular MR TOS E, but you must get this. I would love to see your build!

Rico

Reserve order placed!  Thanks for the heads up on this Bryan.  Maybe since I have the Big E from Master Replicas I could build my kit up as the 1st pilot version.

It will be cool to get a kit of the classic version of this ship in 1/350.  You could work a LOT of detail into the thing.

Round 2/Polar lights are on my bad list right now, though.  The canceling of the 1/2500 JJ Abrahms Enterprise hit me pretty hard.  :-[

Eric, from what I understand, they pulled the JJPrise to focus on this kit, which, let's face it, will be a bigger seller. There's not a lot of love for the JJPrise. I would like to have a 1/1000 kit to go with my other kits in that scale, but no one still knows how big that ship was meant to be. Blame the prop and model makers working for JJ, they screwed that up.

Rico

I think you mean CGI team Bryan.  There was no real world model of the JJPrise made for the film.  I actually kind of like the design.  The only real issue was how it scaled with the other ships.

Yeah, I still think of them as modeler makers. :) The new design has grown on me as well.

I understand the focus on the classic; it has a LOT more historic & nostalgic significance.  Still, I'm sad to see the JJ-Prise plans scrapped.  The design has grown on me as well.  :)

Fortunately, there are many skilled garage kit makers out there who will probably make a kit of the new enterprise a reality as well. :)

seems like a good model. then again, the only model enterprises i've ever seen were at toys-r-us when the new movie came out. they had a klingon bird of prey and everything! sorry, that was a little off topic. ;D
for those of you who have built models before, how hard is it to build one? :confused

Well, it depends. Round 2 makes a 1/1000 scale Enterprise model which is great for a beginner. Revell also has what they call Easy Kits that don't even require glue and are prepainted for STAR WARS vehicles.

Based off that Link, I take it there is an exclusive version, and then they will have a regular version they are releasing in retail?
