.mov is basically .mp4 with a couple of tweaks and content of the container can easily be switched to an .mp4

For example I think Quicktime has an export feature that will pass thru the content for you and there are plenty of open source programs that will do the same.

I need to figure that out Dan.  Please help me!  :)

You'd need the pro version of QuickTime to do the export but there are plenty of free solutions. Xvid4PSP is a good all round converter / remuxer and for re-encoding to can't beat Handbrake.

If you need specific help you know how to reach me. ;)

They are more different than you might think Dan.  It also depends on the bit rate of the encoding and so forth.  I actually used Quicktime to export the .mov files sent to me and convert them to .mp4.  But it still ended up with sync issues.  One of the troubles is when I put all the clips into Pinnacle Studio they are in various size formats, bit rates, etc.  Then I encode all that to an iPod compatible file for the vidcast.  Most of the times it's worked pretty well.  But for some reason this time there were some sync issues.

Dangelus

Yeah when you have to reencode various clips to the same format, bitrate etc then you can get these issues.

I was just commenting that it's possible to remux the contents of one .mov file directly into an mp4 as they usually are just h264 codec these days. Sometimes the audio needs converting especially if it's 5.1 AC3, to AAC. It's pretty straight forward when dealing with just one video file.

If you have a Mac and Final Cut it actually really easy to use any Mov file, but I sent you Rico MP4 for the coding reason and for the size/quality issues with rendering MOV files in Final Cut. But I had trouble the other day with YouTube because my Mov file was encoded differently. It needs to be H264 for YouTube and probably whenever using it in Windows.

Both of which many of us don't have, Final Cut is slightly spendy isn't it?

I got it with my MacBook for a special deal so it wasn't too bad, but the MacBooks are expensive enough on their own.

Just finished this today. I really enjoyed another great podcast and it was cool to see everybody. And I'm glad to know that Kenny is looking so foward to the Pirates movie!  ;D Just kidding Kenny. I never really got into the Harry Potter movies but I hope you enjoy it.
The 3 movies I'm looking foward to the most are #1 Captain America! I cant wait for that one!! #2 Is Green Lantern I just think that it looks like it was well done. And tied for #3 is the Pirates 4 and Cowboys and Aliens. Pirates just looks its going to be fun! And how can you not like Harrison Ford in a sci-fi movie.
Lots of good movies coming our way!

Going to be an expensive summer, having ticked Thir off, pirates opens on the 18th. Mind you the wife loves Mr Depp so I can say we are going for her lol.

WillEagle

Yeah, I'm going to Pirates 4 for the wife too. ;)

Hey Rico!

As I was watching, I noticed that your clock kept changing times. What's the story with your digital clock?

Very curious.
In honor of my still living father - "I drank what?"

If you mean the red one behind me at my desk, it's just a normal digital clock.  Probably the time changes are due to pauses in the recording I was doing.
