Such sad news. Kinda hard to believe, but that's all too bad. My prayers to her family.

I'm as sad as K9 :( As I've shared with Meds, Tom Baker is the Dr. Who I first watched and loved, and Sarah Jane was the first companion I loved! She will be missed. Cancer SUCKS!

Hi all. I had just heard of the news yesterday of Liz Sladen death on the wired.com underwire blog.  I was shocked to hear about one of my favorite Dr. Who companions passing away. She was too young to die!  I watched her in both the Tom Baker and the Jon Petree years.  I am very saddened to hear of her death and I do wish her family well.
I am going with the best information that I have.

The K9 picture is very fitting. Very sad news, indeed. I remember sitting through a lot of Pertwee era reruns, anxiously waiting for them to get back to the Sarah Jane episodes.  As much for Sarah Jane as because it meant the Tom Baker episodes were soon to follow.

RIP wherever your journey takes you, Ms. Sladen.

I heard today that the BBC will show the series that she was filming with a special tribute, it was amazing how she managed to carry on working and kept is from so many. I think showing the series that she never got to finish will be a great epitaph to her work and give the fans a chance to say goodbye.
