In a strange turn of events, CBS home video has decided to remaster all the old TNG episodes not only in Blu-Ray with enhanced effects - but also in 3-D!  Read on...

A spokesman for CBS Home Video announced today their plans to remaster and add improved digital effects to all seven season of "Star Trek: The Next Generation."  He commented, "What better way to celebrate the coming 25th anniversary of The Next Generation than giving fans what they want.  I mean, the geeks will eat this stuff up!  And if we make a tidy profit off their need to buy these episodes once again, who are we to say no to them.  Our head of marketing, Bryan, has been pushing for this for years now.  He even threatened to go shirtless at work until we put the sets out.  Expect the first season in early 2012, with the rest to follow throughout the year."

And now this!

In additional news, CBS also confirms that the planned upconversion, although providing a seamless 3D visual experience, will still be regarded as "complete and utter crap" by one Simon Meddings of 45 West Arm Pit Lane, Worcestershire. When asked for comment, Chief of Marketing Bryan Dunn told reporters "The British haven't been happy since the late 1800's and I am not wearing pants."
