Just read the comic.  Spoilers ahead....  (this will spoil the comic so if you plan on reading it soon, don't click the spoiler box)

[spoiler]I've seen a fair number of superheroes die in comics.  Of course they ALL have come back.  This story follows the various threads that have been going on in the FF for awhile now, with all of the players in danger to some degree.  Johnny sacrifices himself to pretty much save an invasion of Earth from the Negative Zone.  As I think Chris said, you don't actually see him die.  He can EASILY come back.  I have to say, this one might have had a bit too much hype for what happens.  Anyway, I still like the FF and pretty much always have.  One of the only "family" superhero teams around.  So, looking forward to Johnny's eventual return.[/spoiler]
