I have difficulty believing LucasGilm is letting this go forward if it is indeed happening...
QuoteBut will the kids be singing the original songs?
Here we have the award for most bizarre news story of the week (surely nothing will beat it before Friday, unless Steven Moffat reveals he's making a Kamelion spin-off series starring Matthew Waterhouse). You may have thought that George Lucas would want the infamous 1978 Star Wars Christmas Special – a generally embarrassing music, comedy and dance "spectacular" produced for CBS TV in 1978 – to be buried, forgotten and banished from YouTube (uploaded from dodgy sixth generation VHS copies), but apparently not. Because presumably somebody at Lucasfilm has given the thumbs up for Glee to resurrect it for this year's Christmas special.
Quite what form this resurrection will take is not yet clear, but TVGuide reports that the show's star, Matthew Morrison — who also directs the Christmas episode — has revealed, "We're doing a Christmas special within the episode of Glee and it's a throwback and a tribute to the Star Wars holiday special and the Judy Garland Christmas special."
Members of the cast have already Tweeted pics of Chewbacca on set, but Morrison says that Chewie will not be singing. But how about R2-D2 and Artie performing a dance number?

oh no.... this is going to be hilarious....
bs...Lucas has gone out of his way to purge that film as best as he possibly can. There is no way he would allow Glee to resurrect it. The lack of DVDs/Blu-Rays of the film is good enough evidence for that.

Talk about making lemonade from lemons.
I've never seen Glee but wish them the best of luck. :)
I think if you do a parody of something it's difficult to block it. Saturday Night Live gets away with a ton of similar stuff each week. And Lucas does have a sense of humor too. I hope this does end up happening. Lynn watches "Glee" and I'd join her in watching this episode. :)
I thought I read somewhere that Chewbacca was going to appear on Glee and they were sending some guy from LucasFilm to wear the costume, so this might have some sort of approval from Lucas. Never watched the show before, but if there are some clips online I might watch a few.
I want to see the Moffatt 'Kamelion spin-off with Matther Waterhouse'...
Could there be a worse combination than "Glee" and the SW Xmas special? They are both bad enough on there own!
lol, I'm not a Glee fan myself, but to each their own I guess.
I don't think Lynn has been enjoying it as much as she did when it started. But she still watches. Everyone has their own personal likes and dislikes. Makes things interesting.
We used to watch Glee when it started but I think they started to believe they're own hype after a while and it started to take itself too seriously.
Still a huge Glee fan.. season two kind of lost it's way but Season 3 has been pretty good.
i saw a few episodes a while back but i didn't stick with it. mom loves it though. it's like her tuesday ritual.

That's good. It was season 2 that lost it for us.
Lynn said they did do some of this on "Glee" last night. Did anyone watch it yet?

I saw it, but they didn't resurrect it as I thought they might. Granted, I don't remember the SWCS songs, but I didn't hear anything that called to me. The only thing I saw was a cameo and some costumes. Hopefully that's vague enough to not be considered a spoiler.
I watched it.. thought it was great. Very little SW HS

Great in general or great because of the very little SW HS?
Here's what they did.
Artie (the guy in the wheelchair) is asked to direct a Christmas show for the local TV station. When he talks to the owner of the station he says that this idea came to him in a dream last night. Then they do a flashback to Chewbacca in a class room with subtitles saying something like Star Wars needs to be part of it. So when Artie is talking to the station owner he says that Star Wars The Holiday Special is the best Star Wars ever.. blah blah blah.. Then when they do the special it opens like the Star Wars Holiday Special, "Glee" is written in Star Wars script and each actor is announce in the cheesy 70's voice over and their face appears in like a cut out circle, like it did on the SW HS. And then two of the main characters are dressed like Luke and Han, but when it addressed that they look like them, the guys deny it saying that would be copyright infringement. That's about it.
