Ok, time for the real iPhone 5 thread.  Pics popped up online a couple days ago showing a bigger screen, smaller dock connector, earphone jack in the bottom, etc.  What do you think?

I'd be surprised if this was it. Looks a little chintzy to me.

"...screen size of 3.999 inches (diagonally)"
can't we just call it 4? :)

This looks like a Chinese knockoff....just isn't quite the Apple style we have seen thus far...

You think so?  This is the back and the thinking based on this is they have moved away from a glass back (now brushed metal - maybe) - which I would think make sense.

I'm still hoping for a less angular form factor, although I guess since the larger screen is all but confirmed at this point, the likelyhood of a return to the rounded back and edges of the 3G/3GS is about nil.  I hope there's something more and innovative about the look and feel of their new product that sets it apart from the hordes of imitators.

I think the new dock connector is a big move.  If this is true, without some type of adapter, all docks, cables, etc. you have now won't work with this new phone.

yeah, the new dock thing is gonna suck, because I have bought multiple versions for both cars, my company vehicle, etc. It works on all iPods and phones we have. And I too prefer the more rounded look of the 3G and 3gs. But I will be getting it anyway, because the bigger screen and if the rumors on the clarity are true, it's gonna be pretty sweet. Why move the headphones to the bottom of the phone though? I like the jack where it is.

I'll be getting it too.  I'm eligible now but have been holding off even though sorely tempted by the 4GS.

Yeah, I'll be eligible for an upgrade too...but I'd need to see it before I make the decision to upgrade.

Headphone jack on the bottom keeps the cord out of the way if you listen with it on a desk, while keeping the screen right-side up.  If it's in your pocket, it doesn't much matter if it's upside down...

Most of the blogs / podcasts I've been listening to are pretty sure on the reliability of the sources that claim that

A) we are going to see a redesigned smaller dock connector

B) a change in screen size to a 16:9 format (I'm pretty surprised by this one)

Whatever happens I won't be getting one :)

It seems like every other person you meet owns an iphone of one variety or another but I saw an article on Endgadget the other day that showed the statistical breakdown of users and Apple only has 31.4 percent of the market. Admittedly that is still a huge market but Google's Android owns a wopping 50.8 percent and if you had asked me I would have said it was just the opposite. Anyway, I thought that was interesting.

Further info on the next iPhone.  Keep in mind, still semi-rumor - but more and more evidence is piling up.
