The outstanding scifi series 'Charlie Jade' is now available for free on Hulu.com.  You can find the complete series (20 episodes) here...

I am a HUGE fan of this series because it's very different than what you'll normally see on TV.  The cinematography and the score are both a big part of this series.  It has an almost movie quality to it.  It's part scifi and part detective story.  It is slow moving but you have to pay attention to everything.  Don't expect explosions or lots of action.  This show expects you to pay attention and become engaged in the story.  It's a character based story where you may not like the main character...at least in the beginning.

I am of course a bit biased on this since I co-hosted a 'Charlie Jade' podcast.  The podcast is not newbie friendly but once you've seen the show you may enjoy it.  Especially the last episode we did when we spend almost 2 hours talking to the show's creator about the series.

If you're not sure whether or not this is a series that you might enjoy then I highly recommend that you check out this primer that I narrated for 'The Signal' podcast a few years back.  This audio clip was done for the Signal's Scifi Review segment.  After listening to this 15 minute audio introduction you'll know whether or not this is for you...

Been on my list to watch for a long time now.  This will definitely help.  Thanks for the tip Kevin.

As soon as I saw this Subject line, I knew who posted it.  ;)  I've heard you talk about this so much, I may have to try it out.

Agreed, it's one of Kevin's passions (I think)! Without Hulu over here, however, I'll need to find an alternative route to watch it. It's on the loooong list of things to see.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

It's good to know that my listeners know me that well!  LOL

Yes, I am very passionate about Charlie Jade because it's SO different than other scifi TV series.  Not everyone who watches it loves it but if you're a long time fan of TV scifi I think you'll really appreciate how different it is because of it's cinematography and the score.  Plus it doesn't spoon feed you.  You have to pay close attention all through the series in order to grasp what's going on.

I've ordered several copies of Charlie Jade from Amazon.co.uk since they have the region 2 DVDs for an excellent price.

I watched the first three episodes but lost interest..it moves at such a slow pace.. but after hearing Kevin go on and on about it :) I think I need to give it another chance.

I watched episode 1 last night and was intrigued.  I'm planning on continuing, but I'll be very disappointed if the story ends on a cliffhanger or is otherwise unresolved.

This series unfolds over the course of its 20 episodes.  It's not an action series.  A big part of why I love it is because it is so different than almost anything else you'll see on TV.  It expects you to pay attention and to enjoy letting things wash over you.  A big part of the series is the cinematography and the score.  Not everyone enjoys that approach to a TV show but if you consider yourself a fan of all types of scifi stories then this is a must see.

There was hope that the series would continue into a second season so therefore they left the door open from a story point of view however you still get a complete story in the 20 episodes that we got.

I wonder if it would have been more likely to been given the green light for a season 2 or more now that it is more common for series to run shorter committments, 10-12 episodes per season not being uncommon.  20-24 episode seasons at the level of quality I saw in the first episode would have been pretty expensive to keep up with.

That's a good point.

When we had the show runner on our podcast he shared some of what might have happened in season 2 and it sounded very interesting so I would have been good with a shorter run just to have keep the series on the air.

What Charlie Jade really needs is a US DVD release. I've been wanting to have this show in my DVD collection forever. Maybe there is hope for that now that it's available on Netflix and Hulu. It really is about time people who aren't insomniacs or have to resort to illegal means to watch this show get the opportunity.

Wow just checked TVDB for this show and it sounds amazing according to the synopsis. I'll have to find this show!

ElfManDan

Oh it's one of the best shows I have ever seen. It takes a few episodes, but things start to connect and piece fall into place. It's so packed with information you probably won't even pick up on till a later episode so stay with it too cause by the end of the series it is so amazing, and sad because it's the end.

Also a note, this is not a kid friendly show, but well worth watching. I highly suggest you watch it Dan.
