Well, the American version of this film directed by David Fincher has had it's first trailer leaked online.  This is a slightly mature (Red Band) version of the official trailer that is due out later this coming week.  Watch it while you below.  I have to say, this looks really good so far.

OK that was weird! Doesn't look like my cup of tea. It does look like it has some good actors in it though.

I am looking forward to seeing this movie.  I saw all 3 of the series (Swedish with subtitles) - and loved them.  This is a very dark, yet compelling story.  The lead actress - Rooney Mara - also played the girlfriend of Mark Zuckerberg (the one who dumps him) in 'The Social Network'.

I loved the books and the original movies as well but I'm not sure how I'll like the American version. If someone sees it before me, please let me know how it is. I'm a bit biased already because Noomi Rapace is awesome (from the original 3 films) and I can't see anyone else playing Lisbeth. I thought she was really great and she's been a few other movies since.

Yes, I have great reservations...but I generally dislike remakes like this (Wicker Man comes to mind..).  The Swedish versions were fabulous  - I don't know how they will top them.
Do you recommend the books?  Did the Swedish movies alter anything from the books?  I might start in on them.

I read the first book and enjoyed it immensely. Definitely some adult content in there though!

I enjoyed the first book too and I am looking forward to this new movie.

I do recommend the books. They can be quite wordy at times before really getting to the heart of the matter and then of course a lot of the words can be difficult to read because of the Swedish language. It was translated into English but even through the translation, it's the English-English translation. So for me, it was tough to get through at times, but I found the storytelling was done really well. I love the in between information. About the math, the history of female warriors and all those interesting tidbits.

I thought for the most part, the movies did well by the books. There were a few things left out but nothing that would make you have to read the book to find out what was missing. They did alter some of the stories but that was to be expected.

My son and I just got back from seeing the new movie.  It was really well done.  Directed very well by David Fincher.  The cast was excellent, especially Rooney Mara as Lisbeth (the title character).  If you like the books, see the movie.  I think they did a great job with a complex novel.  Word of warning - like the books, this is not something to see for the faint of heart.  It is rated R for some very good reasons.  Again, very good job by all on this.  I was impressed.

Thanks - now we just have to somehow get a sitter for the evening to see this.  Actually my wife saw the original Swedish film, and is not too keen to see this remake.  May have to go solo on this one..

My wife Lynn enjoyed all three books but won't see the movies.  They are not kind to women in these.  But they did a good job adapting a tough book I think.

Saw this today - and enjoyed it very much.  It is dark, and as you say not kind to women.  I have seen the Swedish version, and now this one - and I can say I liked them both.  Rooney Mara really shows her acting chops here, and I predict big things for her in the future.
