That does look good. To bad I'll have to wait awhile to see it. :wallbash:

Why?

I don't get BBC one here. Just BBC America.

Private message me and I'll tell you how it works so that you can see it a bit quicker.  I'm on my way out the door at the moment, but I can fill you in later if you like.

I finally got round to watching episode 2 tonight. This isn't an immediate 'grab' as V was (when I started it earlier this week) but as well as the elements that could exist in any show, they are continuing to introduce new and interesting Sci-Fi elements into this.

As it's based on a planet, BSG it is not but there is something interesting here. I might prefer something slightly more up-tempo but this is home-grown so I'm sticking with it.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I was going to watch it tonight but the grandkids are here and the TV is currently in use for a Dora the Explorer marathon.  Its keeping them quiet so I can wait.

Episodes 3 and 4 have carried on in the same vein with a little more investigation into the background of the colony and a couple of cool glimpses of past goings on. We're half-way through the series now and they've just thrown out a story thread that I realllly want to see through to the end.

As I said after the first two, to a degree, it's presence on a planet other then Earth has been almost incidental. The episodes have been as much about characters and relationships as anything else and yet, I think the setting is almost fundamental to some of the tales told.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I wonder if showing two full hours a week (so far) has had anything to do with it as well. An hour on both Monday and Tuesday nights is quite a commitment (from an audience persepective as well as the channel), even with DVR technology and no concerns over advertising.

I am finding the show very slow, I am tempted to give up on it!  I so wanted to like this show.  :(

What are you looking for it to do differently? Action? Spaceships?

To be honest I wanted something a with a bit more action.  In most cases I wouldn't
care if there was not much action, this is come from  a guy who really enjoys the orginal Russian version of Salaris, and there's not much action in that movie!

It's down to personal taste;  I feel that a guy who was taken out for a lunch with friends and finds himself taken to Chucky Cheese!!!  :)

Still not high on the action front, but the mystery and intrigue has picked up noticeably. I'm not sure where they're going to take it (I've seen all but one episode) but they've left far more avenues open than they have the abilit to close.

If I had to guess...
I'd say they'll try and resolve the AC story in the last episode (yes I know it was on last Sunday) leaving the strange alien presence to roll into the next season (if it ever happens). There's still quite a good amount of mystery around Julius Whatever-his-name-is too and the ship that hasn't yet arrived.

My only question there is that given that atmospheric entry is such a hard job on Carpathia, why should we care who's on that ship since they probably won't make it down alive?
The character stuff continues too but I wasn't really expecting that to end in any case. Somehow I doubt we'll see a second series but it would be nice if the BBC could ignore ratings for a bit (advertising is futile!) and try and extend this for another lap of the field.

The last episode already aired right? I thought it was an 8 episode deal and I didn't like the cliffhanger!

Feathers

Yes, the last one's aired. I fell behind so watched 6 and 7 over the last two evenings with 8 still to go.

From what I saw on the 'Next Time' segment of 7, they're certainly not looking to wrap everything neatly in a bow (but yo know that if you've already seen it). I'll let you know what I think when I get there.
