"Do you expect me to make a movie?"

"No Mr. Bond, I expect you to make an awesome, non-3D movie!"   :bond

The Bond franchise has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a young boy and my parents took me to see a double Bond feature at the drive-in theater. It was showing Thuderball and Goldfinger but it was Thunderball with all of it's underwater scenes that attracted this young fella. Of course that was during the heyday of Jaqcue Cousteau and his films and Sea Hunt was in reruns and I think Flipper was on. Anyway, it made me a lifelong Bond fan. I enjoy all the movies and work through them all at least once a year and I have read all the books too. So this is exciting news to me!

Judi Dench Returns As M In "Bond 23"
By Garth Franklin Friday January 28th 2011 01:56AM

Dame Judi Dench has confirmed she will be reprising the role of MI6 chief M in the upcoming 23rd James Bond film reports MI6.

Speaking to the media after the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, she said she couldn't reveal anything about the project - "Nothing... my lips are sealed. I can't tell you anything at all."

She added that she's very glad the franchise seems to be moving forward again "Of course, I'm looking forward hugely to working with Daniel [Craig] again and with Sam [Mendes] who I've only ever worked with in the theatre. So that'll be all good fun to do! I'm so glad it's coming back, it's wonderful."

This film would mark the seventh time Dench has played the role of M starting with 1995's "GoldenEye". The Sam Mendes-directed "Bond 23" is due out November 9th, 2012.

23rd James Bond to Film in South Africa?
Source: MI6
April 6, 2011

MI6, the premiere James Bond site on the 'net, has gotten some interesting information about the currently-untitled James Bond 23, which is scheduled to start shooting this November for a November 2012 release. Apparently, former cricket player Darren Gough was on a Virgin flight to Johannesburg, South Africa earlier today and he spotted director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli en route to the country. Confirmation came from an equally odd source, actor Nigel Lindsay who was visited by Mendes on the set of the London production of "Shrek: The Musical" and was told he was heading off to prep for 007 shooting.

Of course, until someone actually spots the duo location scouting, this is all still rumor, but South Africa has long been rumored as a possible location for a Bond movie though 007 himself has never visited there. Word is that the 23rd outing for 007 will also be back filming at its regular homebase of Pinewood Studios.

My first bond film in the theaters was 'Diamonds Are Forever' - I had seen the previous films on our old trusty black & white Zenith....it took some time to get the rabbit-ears just right so that Ursula Andress wouldn't look like she was wearing a bikini in a snow storm.

Sony Pictures to Co-Finance and Distribute Bond 23 & 24!
Source: Sony Pictures, MGM
April 13, 2011

Sony Pictures Entertainment will remain in the James Bond business after reaching an agreement with MGM to co-finance and theatrically market and distribute Bond 23 worldwide, it was announced today by MGM Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton and Co-Chairman Amy Pascal. Sony will release the next film in this iconic franchise on November 9, 2012 throughout the world except for select International territories, where MGM will directly oversee distribution.

Sony Pictures and MGM said the studios look forward to Sony Pictures co-financing and distributing Bond 24 on a similar basis.

Additionally, MGM and Sony Pictures have agreed to explore co-financing opportunities on future motion pictures produced by each of the respective studios for the next five years.

The two studios have collaborated directly and indirectly in recent years on numerous films, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, 21, Yours, Mine and Ours, The Pink Panther, and the forthcoming Kevin James comedy Zookeeper.

The announcement of the agreement to distribute Bond 23 adds another high-profile title to Sony's 2012 slate, which also includes Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as I Hate You, Dad, starring Adam Sandler, Here Comes the Boom, starring Kevin James, 21 Jump Street, Resident Evil 5 and Total Recall.

"Sony Pictures is the ideal studio partner for us as MGM re-enters the filmmaking business. We have longstanding relationships with Michael and Amy and look forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together," said Barber and Birnbaum.

"In addition to working together on Bond, this deal expands our relationship with MGM as we explore co-financing opportunities on other high-profile projects," Lynton said. "Gary and Roger are incredibly thoughtful and experienced leaders who are outstanding creative executives and respected moviemakers. While we are excited to be back in the Bond business, we also look forward to future collaborations and I am confident that this agreement will be long-term, lucrative, and beneficial to both studios."

"After successfully working on the re-launch of the James Bond franchise with 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum of Solace,' we could not be more proud or privileged to continue our association with Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Daniel Craig, and the talented teams at EON and MGM," said Pascal.

When Sony released Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, the films had record-high grosses for the Bond franchise, with Casino Royale taking in $599 million in worldwide ticket sales and Quantum of Solace generating $577 million.

The official synopsis:"Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."

Sounds cool. I love Judi Dench as M and Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond since Connery.

I really hope they get the damn song right. I love my Bond themes but frankly since Goldeneye they have not got the song right. Come on producers lets get a belter out there. Can;t wait for this film, already have the date in my diary. :D

I love the title song for Casino Royale by Chris Cornell.  I listen to it often.

Its a great song but its not a Bond song ( in the traditional sense) there is a chord progression in near in every Bond song that informs you straight away its Bond. I'll see if i can find it.
