Something that I can just kiss all Droid companies for has forced Apple to be kind and give us a feature for free,

"Find my iPhone".

Yes, I am thanking Droid for giving iOS users something for free. I hope I don't do this too often...but competition is good for us customers. =\. Why Droid? Because HTC gave all their users this same feature for free a little while ago, putting a bad mark on Apple for not doing the same. Glad to see Jobs providing this, because it was sorely needed for these spendy devices.

At the time of this posting, it seems their servers are suffering from lag, probably due to the thousands of devices being connected. But I'm sure it'll work itself out soon enough. Its great that we can use our Apple ID for this, rather than having a MobileMe account since I didn't want to pay the $69-99 a year for a service I barely needed.

For those unsure of how to access this feature:

1. Go to Settings on your iOS Device. (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad)
2. Go to Mail/Contacts/Calendars
3. Add Account.
4. Add A Mobile Me Account.
5. Enter your iTunes account info, not a MobileMe account. It is the same as the one you use to Buy Music, apps, etc.
(MobileMe ofc, still works)
6. After you have activated the MobileMe, turn on "Find My iDevice".
7. Now you can use any iOS Device with the "Find My iPhone" app itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8 or the website: www.me.com to find, lock, or erase your iDevice.

Notice: Requires iOS 4.2. 1st Gen iPods do not get access to this feature.

I'm putting this up because it took me a while to find. Maybe I'm just that airheaded. Hopefully it helps out someone .

Enjoy! Its Free!

**EDIT**  My bad, apparently this is iPhone/iPod Touch 4th Gen and iPad.  There is a work around for older devices however.  Didn't read this little message earlier...=\

I'll put up the work around for older devices later.
